My Thoughts:
Does your child like Barney?  My daughter is going through a phase now where all she wants to watch on television is Barney.  I have watched a few episodes with her, but end recording them and letting her father watch them with her.  He now sings the “I Love You” song to her every night before bed.  After talking with other moms, I have found that their children either love Barney, or don’t.    There is something about this show that makes me sleepy.  I remember watching it with children I used to babysit years ago, but now,  can’t fathom why this show has been around and so successful for years.  So, when it came to reviewing this title from Hit Entertainment and Lionsgate, I left it to my husband to watch with Savannah and share his thoughts.
My husband likes to watch the bonus features on DVDs first, and said that the read-along and counting game for fun to do with Savannah.   Now that Savannah is learning how to count, she was able to follow along with Barney and play this game.  When it came time to watch the DVD, which contained 4 episodes of this hit show, both my husband and Savannah found Airplanes and On the Road Again to be their favorites.  The songs sung in each of these episodes were catchy, and when I was cleaning the living room over the weekend, saw my husband humming and tapping his feet to the songs.  Savannah was front and center dancing and pointing out things to her Daddy.  My husband liked how the episodes were short, which kept Savannah’s attention, and let him break up viewing over an afternoon.  When they were done watching all four episodes, Savannah wanted him to play it again. :-)  So, as you can see, a Barney fan will love this new DVD release.  And, with summer right around the corner, these episodes will get young children excited about taking family car rides, all while learning about safety and the need to buckle up.
You can order this DVD online at, as well as buy at your favorite retailer.  It retails for only $14.98.

Last Minute Mother’s Day Gift Ideas –BOO…THE WORLD’S CUTEST DOG! Plush from GUND! (Review)

gund, plush, mothers day

Is Mom one of the millions of Boo fans, or just a dog lover in general?

Boo, the Internet sensation, dubbed the “World’s Cutest Dog”, with over 4 million Facebook fans  and the star of his own book, calendar and YouTube videos, is finally available in plush for fans to love at home! The GUND version of Boo is the spitting image of the famous Pomeranian…right down to his lovable smile!

How can you resist Boo’s puppy dog eyes and cute smile?  I know I couldn’t when I first laid eyes on him a few years back.  Being a huge dog lover, especially little ones, my husband surprised me with a Boo Calendar back in 2010, which made my heart melt.  Even though that calendar year is over, I kept the photos of Boo, and have a few hanging in my office, next to our three rescued dogs.  Unfortunately, this past May, we had to put our oldest dog, Manny, down, so we are left with two little girls.  As I am greeted each and every morning by Abby and Lily as I head into my office, I can’t help but glance up at my cork board and see Manny’s photo.  But, before I can get sad, I sneak a peek at Boo, who is right next to Manny’s photo, and find myself smiling.  Boo is so cute and lovable, and helps to remind me of all the great memories we had with Manny.

So, when I found out that GUND was offering a Boo plush, I had to see this fluff ball up close.  The kind folks at GUND sent me Boo to review, and as soon as I took him out of the box, a smile came across my face.  He is just as adorable up close, as he is in the photo above.  I have seen many Pomeranians in my life, but none as cute as Boo.  I found a place for this cuddly plush on a shelf in my home office, but find that when my daughter, Savannah comes to visit, she ends up walking out with Boo, to snuggle with.

Even though we have only had Boo the plush from GUND for a few days now, this plush toy has become a hit in our office, and has brought many smiles.  And, with Mother’s Day right around the corner, this Boo plush would make for a great gift for any Mom!  She doesn’t have to be a Boo fan or dog lover to appreciate this adorable and cuddly plush. Little Tikes’ Pillow Racer Dino Ride On Toy Review and #Giveaway

Why not surprise your little one this Easter with a Pillow Racer from Little Tikes?  I had the opportunity to review the Dino Pillow Racer with Savannah, and this has become an instant favorite toy of hers.  Just look at Savannah playing with her Pillow Racer:

This soft-stuffed ride on toy is also a pillow – all in one!  How great is that?  For parents that don’t like to spend hours trying to figure out how to put together toys, no need to worry here, as I was able to put this toy together in under 10 minutes.  And, when you covert the pillow racer to the pillow, I didn’t have any issues.  Savannah loves sitting on as she watches television, in addition to scooting around the house with it.  This pillow racer is low enough to the ground that I don’t have to worry about Savannah injuring herself if she slips off.

At first, it took Savannah a few attempts to get on this pillow racer, as it slides around on its coasters as you try to get on and get off the pillow pal.  I held it in place the first few times, but Savannah, like most toddlers, wanted to be independent and through a few slips on and off, she finally grasped how to get on and off safely.   And, with an easy grip handle, she is able to hold on and maintain her balance as she uses this 2-in-1 toy as a ride on.

Even though this toy is for children ages 18 months to 3 years old, Savannah is 20 ½ months old, and had difficulty in the beginning to understand that she need to push herself around the room.  She wanted me to push her around, but because this toy is low to the ground, she couldn’t lift her feet up and put on a rest.  When she did try to put her feet up, she slipped off the back end.  But, in the end, this is a great ride on toy that Savannah and her friends can’t get enough of.  When her friends come over, they make a b-line to this ride on, and take turns playing with it.  I know that if I had a few of these in the house, the kids will go crazy chasing each other with them.  In addition to the Dino Pal, Little Tikes is also offering a turtle and ladybug – so, both boys and girls can enjoy this fun ride on toy.  Don’t worry if your little one gets the Pillow Racer dirty, as you can hand wash it.  I learned this firsthand the other day, after Savannah got her freeze pop all over it.  With a wet rag and dish detergent, her Dino Pillow Racer was good as new.

Children will have fun for years to come with this fun ride on toy from Little Tikes, as it holds children up to 50 lbs.  With Savannah only being 20 lbs. now, I know she will be enjoying this toy for the next few years, with her little sister.  So, if you are looking for a fun ride on toy to give to your little one this holiday or for an upcoming birthday, why not consider buying a Pillow Racer from Little Tikes today.  At only $39.99, this 2-in-1 toy will provide hours of entertainment, and will not be played with once and forgotten about.  Since giving to Savannah to play with, this is one of the first toys she plays with in the AM when she gets, and one of the last before she goes to bed.  I have always been a Little Tikes fan, and am happy to say that they have done it again with this great toy – that will become quickly become a hit with little ones.

Click here to order a Pillow Racer (Ladybug, Dino or Turtle) directly from the Little Tikes website, for only $39.99, with FREE shipping.  Act now, as these ride on toys are selling out fast!

Playskool’s Let’s Rock! Cookie Monster and Let’s Rock! Strummin’ Ernie Toys

Is your little one a fan of Sesame Street?  My daughter, Savannah, just loves this show, especially when Elmo, Zoey and Cookie Monster appear on the screen.  Since welcoming Savannah in 2010, I have been exposed to shows and toys that were a big part of my childhood and which I have fond memories off.  So, when she began watching Sesame Street and enjoying it as much as I did when I was little, I couldn’t help but smile.  And, when it comes to Sesame Street merchandise, I can’t get over what is available nowadays, compared to 20+ years ago.  All the new toys on the market are so technologically advanced, in their ability to interact with other toys, as well as all the features they offer.  I remember having a doll that you could crank her hand to make her hair grow and get shorter.  And, as a little girl, I thought this was amazing.

A few weeks ago, I was sent Playskool’s Let Rock! Singin’ Cookie Monster and Let’s Rock! Strummin’ Ernie dolls to review with Savannah.  As soon as I took them out of the box, she ran over and began asking for “Cookie” and “Ernie.”  I still can’t get over how she knows the characters by name and can point them out when she sees them in books, on television and when she sees them in stores.  Being the first grandchild, my parents spoiled her this past Christmas with everything Elmo.  They bought everything they could find Elmo, except for the Let’s Rock! Elmo toy, which was a hot holiday item and was sold out at the time.  Fast forward a few months later, and Let’s Rock Elmo toy is now part of her collection, as are the Let’s Rock Ernie and Cookie Monster dolls.  Did you know that if you put each of the characters next to the Let’s Rock! Elmo doll, they will rock out together (Note: You can only pair Elmo and Ernie or Elmo and Cookie Monster together to interact together —  It doesn’t work if you try to have all three rock out together).
The LET’S ROCK! Strummin’ Ernie doll stands 12 inches tall, comes with a guitar, and sings and rocks out to “Old McDonald.”  As for PLAYSKOOL’s LET’S ROCK! Singin’ Cookie Monster, he is also 12 inches in height, but comes with a microphone, in which he sings into.  When you push Cookie Monster’s hand, holding the microphone towards his mouth, he begins to sing.  The closer you put the microphone to his mouth, the louder he sings.
When paired with Elmo (check out our review of Let’s Rock! Elmo), the Let’s Rock! Cookie Monster doll sings, “If You’re Happy and You Know It,” and Elmo chimes in with “Clap your hands!”  The first time Savannah saw the two characters interacting together, she didn’t know what to think?  She gave me a puzzled look, like how can this be.  But, that didn’t stop her from jumping around and clapping her hands in excitement.  She loved having an instant rock band in the house, and even joined in with her musical instruments.  By adding these two Let’s Rock! dolls with her Let’s Rock! Elmo doll, it has brought a new level of fun and excitement to playtime.  When Elmo tells her to clap her hands, she does with a smile and laugh.  And, when Ernie sings about the animals on Old McDonald’s farm, she can’t help but laugh at their sounds.  I am loving watching her play with these toys from Playskool, and seeing her get into the song and dance.  I can’t think of any other toys that she has that get her moving and grooving like these dolls do.

The only negative thing that I can think about regarding these two Playskool Let’s Rock! dolls is that unlike the Let’s Rock! Elmo doll, they are smaller in size.  And, you have to continually push the microphone towards Cookie Monster’s mouth, and the strum the guitar of Ernie with his hand, in order for the music to continually play.  Savannah has a hard time getting the Ernie doll to sing and play the guitar as you really need to pull down on his hand, making sure he rubs against the plastic guitar. It took me a few demonstrations in order to show her how to make these two characters come to life.  But, once she got the hang of it, it got easier over time.  I am surprised at how well she has taken to these new Let’s Rock! dolls from Playskool, as she brings them wherever she goes.  I am guessing this is because she likes the smaller size, making them easier to carry around.  There were a few instances when she had the microphone right up to Cookie Monster’s mouth and he sang really loud, startling her.  But, I told her to keep the microphone at a distance to lower the volume of the singing, which made a big difference.

Did you get your little one a Let’s Rock Elmo doll this past holiday?  If you did and don’t have the Let’s Rock! Cookie Monster and the LET’S ROCK! Strummin’ Ernie dolls, why not surprise them this Easter with these two toys.  At only $19.99 each, if purchased from either Playskool’s online store, or, they would make for an affordable holiday gift.  Here are just a few photos of Savannah interacting with her two Sesame Street pals.

So, what are you waiting for?  Head on over to the Playskool website today and order these cute toys, to get in time for Easter.  In addition to ordering online, you can also buy them at Toys R Us and other major retailers.

Click here to order the Let’s Rock! Cookie Monster  or LET’S ROCK! Strummin’ Ernie toys directly from Playskool’s online store, for only $19.99 each.

Does your little one like Curious George?  Everyone’s favorite inquisitive little monkey, in soft huggable 8” plush, wearing your choice of a red or yellow shirt.

Maybe your kids are a little older? Try a Nuzzle! Nuzzles are designed to lay gently and comfortably against your neck and cheek. A great decorative addition to any child’s bedroom or playroom, Nuzzles also offer a soft place to lay your head on longer car or plane rides, or while you’re watching TV!

My Thoughts:

The folks at GUND sent me their 8″ Curious George plush, wearing his famous yellow shirt.  This toy was supposed to be an Easter basket gift for Savannah, but she saw me taking it out of the package, before I could hide it on her.  But, the look on her face, when she saw Curious George peak out of the box was priceless.  If only my camera was ready for the photo op.  Her big, brown eyes lit up, and she grinned from ear to ear, before pointing and running towards the GUND plush bear.  Savannah is only 20 months old,  so her vocabulary is still limited. But, she can say some of her favorite cartoon characters, including Curious George (well, she refers to him as George), and couldn’t stop yelling ‘George,’ as I handed her the plush toy.  She quickly brought it over to her little sister, who was having tummy time on the floor, to show it off.

This plush toy made Savannah’s day.  And, by night’s end, she was snuggling up next to Curious George, after a busy day of playing with him.  If your children are fans of Curious George, why not surprise them this Easter with an 8″ plush from GUND.  Or, if they are older, not to worry, as GUND offers an assortment of plush toys for children of all ages.  Click here to see more great ideas from the GUND Easter Gift Guide.  These plush toys make for great keepsakes, because when the chocolate and sweets are gone, these cuddly pals will keep your little ones entertained at the days through.
