The last stop on our 4-day journey was to Boggy Creek Airboat Rides.   We all piled in to the airboat, passed around blankets, and were off!  Even though we were freezing the entire time, it was so much fun!  The everglades were amazing!  We weren’t too far from shore, but it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere!  We saw alligators, birds and a few other animals.  When it’s cold out, the animals like to stay in the water.  I’m sure if we went a little later we would’ve seen a few more, but we had a plane to catch!  When the airboat ride was over, we warmed up with some delicious appetizers.  The food was all cooked to order and tasted so good!  I tried everything, including frog legs!  Those weren’t my favorite, but I did love the potato skins and mozzarella sticks.  While we were eating, we were able to talk to one of the owners who has worked there almost her entire life!  It is all family-run and they absolutely love what they do!  They started with just one airboat and would take friends and family out for rides.  Then it turned in to a full fledged business!  Now they are busy year round, but still have not lost the down-home feel.  I am so glad we were able to make time for one last stop!  I will never forget Boggy Creek and the amazing staff we met there.

  • We did this when we visited my family in Orlando FL and we had a blast. Our tour guide even took us out in the middle of the lake and turned off the motor, Wow! there were crocodiles surrounding our boat..we did have a lot of fun and we had a great tour guide.

  • That sounds like fun. I wouldn’t eat frog legs on a dare! I don’t even eat chicken legs!

  • This looks like so much fun! I have always wanted to do this but I have a slight fear of going fast in a boat. My husband is a boat mechanic & we use to own a repair business so I use to go out in huge yachts a lot & was always so scared! I’m deathly afraid of going fast in a bass or ski boat! Sooo even though Ive always wanted to ride an airboat Im not sure if I could get up enough courage to do it. lol

  • That looks like fun. I thought about doing that while we were down in Orlando in October but my hubby wasn’t interested at the time. Maybe next time.

  • Next time we are near the Everglades we will do this! A couple of times we’ve been thrilled just driving through and seeing the various birds and reptiles from the side of the road, but i would be more awesome to be IN the Everglades on one of these boats.
