This post brought to you by Walmart. All opinions are 100% mine.
In support of Hunger Action Month in September, Walmart worked with customers, suppliers and associates nationwide to donate up to 53 million meals to Feeding America and to give $2.5 million for hunger relief. That's a lot of help for the hungry, especially since one in 6 Americans are living without knowing where their next meal may come from.
Through October 12th, customers were able to generate meal donations for Feeding America by purchasing select products from participating food suppliers (General Mills, Kellogs, Unilever, Kraft Foods, and ConAgra Foods) at Walmart stores and following instructions on the packaging, engaging in the “Give Meals” section of www.walmart.com/hunger, or using a mobile app to generate meal donations for Feeding America.
Participate in the Golden Spark promotion for a chance to win $50K for your community! Walmart will randomly award 40 “Golden Sparks” valued at $50,000 each to consumers who participate in the Fighting Hunger Together Golden Spark Promotion. The winners will choose a community to receive the funding to start or expand a backpack program that provides vital meals to food-insecure children during weekends when they do not have access to free- and reduced-price school meals. Walmart Associates will also have a chance to compete together for their store to win a Golden Spark by logging volunteer hours. I'm sure we all know a community who could benefit from $50,000! I know I do!
3. Pick one of the suppliers donating meals (General Mills, Kellogs, Unilever, Kraft Foods, and ConAgra Foods). Write about how when you help this supplier fight hunger by going to Walmart and finding the “Fighting Hunger Together” signs OR going to the “Give Meals” section ofwww.walmart.com/hunger you can take one product and turn it into 7 meals.
Leave a comment and share a personal story about a time you ever experienced hunger, or helped someone else who has experienced hunger. By sharing these personal stories, we can all understand why helping those who are hungry is prevalent and important.
Once you've commented- let's think- how can WE help provide hunger relief? Just because it isn't Hunger Month anymore doesn't mean there aren't others in need. We can still help now, via the Jingit app, either by checking in at Walmart or by watching a video or taking a survey from one of the brands listed on Walmart's site. That's about the easiest and quickest way we can help.
There are so many other ways we can all help- those buy one, get one/two/three free sales at the store? Donate one! Just one! When there are coupons and sales for items you don't typically use for your family for whatever reason, take advantage of the low pricing (and often, free! deals) and donate those items. It doesn't have to cost a lot. It just takes some time, and thinking outside the box. We don't have a ton of extra money, but giving a little bit helps every single time.
My family loves Cheerios. My husband eats a bowl almost every single day for breakfast. Just by going to Walmart and looking for the "Fighting Hunger Together" signs or by checking out the Give Meals section on Walmart.com, we can help fill others' bellies by buying Cheerios. Not much work nor effort for us, and we'd not even have to buy something extra. Kind of a win-win situation for us!
Halloween is SO close- just a few more weeks to wait! The kids are getting so excited to wear their costumes…and I admit, I LOVE seeing kids all dressed up for Halloween. Not just my own- I love seeing what they come up with for ideas, their costume choices. It’s just so much fun.
We like to decorate the outside of the house first, to get ready for Halloween. We grow pumpkins in the garden so those are usually the first thing outside- sadly, in August this year, so they are probably not going to make it until the big day. We like to put those fake spider webs on the bushes on either side of the front door of the house, and I have a cute witch that ‘crashes’ into the front door. Lots of fun, and that’s just outside! Inside, we have fun Hallween dishes and serving bowls, window clings and other fun decor scattered through out the house. I even found Halloween pillowcases for the kids one year, one of which glows in the dark…maybe they’ll be old enough this year to not get so scared by it! And yes, I do usually get Halloween pajamas for them…maybe even cute ghost underwear this year. It’s a fun holiday, so why not live it up?
Kmart has tons of great Halloween items at superb prices. Not just costumes, although I am telling you that you really need to go check out the Kmart Kreator. I want to see what you all come up with. I made myself Batgirl, you can do it! Look how easy it is to share, once you’ve done it! (Be warned: you will need to shrink your image file down, the site doesn’t seem to like very large files). ANDDDDD…you’ll see that lovely little $5 coupon in the corner, once you’ve made a costume. It’s fun and it’s easy and I think it’d be a great way to help someone decide WHAT they want to be for Halloween- you can choose theme options, and once you’ve decided on your theme, you choose a costume, add your photo and then you can customize. Wigs, accessories- they are all there, so you can be silly and have fun all you want! Then, when you have created your Kostume, you’ll see images available at Kmart that are available for purchase to recreate your Kostume in real life. I’m not sure I WILL dress up like Batgirl but hey, if I do? I’ll be able to grab what I need at Kmart. I’ll even know what to get ahead of time.
I think these adorableGhost pathway markers would look great in front of my house- festive without being scary (can you tell I am not into the frighten yourself aspect of Halloween?) and under $30! Love the pricing!
Besides decorating, we like to do lots of crafts and baking to get ready for Halloween. I’m going to attempt some festive bento-style lunches and snacks for Halloween week, so if you have any suggestions for ideas I would love to hear them!

We have the most delicious looking building toy set I’ve ever seen – the Candy Construction set from Learning Resources.
Build candy structures, thinking skills and fine motor strength!
Create using chunky, durable candy pieces in a variety of fun, familiar design
Includes Activity Guide with illustrated, step-by-step building directions
Largest piece measures 7″L x .5“ in diameter
Set of 92 pieces includes:
32 Small, medium and large swirl sticks
8 Green swirl connectors
8 Red swirl connectors
8 Gumdrop pieces
12 Colored disks
8 Green connectors
8 Blue connectors
4 Bendy twists
4 Chocolate panels
The kids love how easy they are to use as well as the fun bright colors. With 92 pieces, there are plenty of pieces for multiple children to play with and build with, and still have enough that no one is fighting or arguing over that last piece. This has now become the new “favorite” play item, both at home and in my son’s kindergarten classroom.
The instructions come with illustrations- which is something that I love. Full color illustrations means the kids can follow the instructions and be able to successfully do so without having to read- which is often the source of frustration in my house.
It’s also a refreshing change of pace from many of the building toys we use all of the time and it’s put a new spin on the kids’ play and conver
sation while they are building. This is definitely going to be one of my holiday toys I keep long past when my kids are “little” enough to play with them, too.
One reader will win a Candy Construction set of their own!
I received a sample of this product to facilitate my review. Opinions are my own.
We all have busy schedules. It isn’t just school- it’s school related stuff, non-school stuff, social commitments, volunteer endeavors, working out, visiting family, and soon- holiday shopping. With busy lives, often finding the time to prepare a home-cooked meal can be quite a challenge, and getting started is often the hardest part. I know it’s always hard for me…or at least it is most of the time! The new Progresso™ Recipe Starters™ cooking sauces give a big head start to dinner and come in 5 different varieties which can be used in a number of ways. While I might not use a product like this every night, it’s definitely a HUGE help when I lose track of time (frequently) or have *ahem* dinner cooking issues…and need to start something else FAST.
Progresso Recipe Starters sauces are available in the soup aisle and come in five varieties that can each be used as a starter to create numerous home-cooked meals. For added inspiration, Progresso created 80 recipes utilizing this new line of cooking sauces that can be found on Progresso.com/RecipeStarters. Many of these recipes are classic family favorites, such as Bacon Mac n’ Cheese, Chicken Pot Pie and Chicken Parmesan, and utilize ingredients your family may already have on-hand. (Bacon Mac n Cheese? Yes, please!)
Inspired by the five “Mother” Sauces that form the basis of classical French cooking, including Béchamel, Velouté, Tomato, Espagnole and Hollandaise, Recipe Starters use a variety of ingredients and the best techniques to make sure you have delicious options to take on the school days dinner dilemma.
The five varieties are: Creamy Parmesan Basil: This creamy, full-bodied and indulgent sauce that was inspired by alfredo and creamy pesto sauces can be used to make dishes such as Crispy Garlic-Parmesan Chicken, Creamy Chicken Alfredo, Basil Chicken Ravioli Carbonara and Basil Chicken Thai Noodle ( I am going to try the last of these recipes sometime this week. Sounds delicious. I just have to print a coupon (see below) before I go to maximize my savings!)
Creamy Roasted Garlic with Chicken Stock: With caramelized, roasted chicken broth, garlic and a touch of cream, this stock is perfect for dishes such as Creamy Lemon Chicken, Chicken Pot Pie and Chicken Enchiladas (I LOVE chicken pot pie and enchiladas. These sauces are so versatile, and that means having some on hand gives ME options for last minute dinners!)
Fire Roasted Tomato: A medium-thick tomato sauce, accompanied by flavors of roasted, caramelized tomatoes, oregano and bell peppers, which can be used as a great way to begin creating Pulled Chicken Sandwiches, Easy Weeknight Chicken Parmesan, Cheese-stuffed Mini Meat Loaves and Mole Tacos (This one is delicious. I used this in meatloaf and everyone commented on how good it was that night!! I think we’re making Mole Tacos in the next week or so- this sauce makes it such a breeze to get dinner put together!)
Creamy Portabella Mushroom: Creamy and highly indulgent, this smooth sauce is rich with sautéed Portabella mushrooms, giving you any easy way to start delicious dishes like Easy Weeknight Beef Stroganoff, Steak and Mushroom Sandwich and Tetrazzini (I am NOT a mushroom person, so I passed ours along to a friend who IS and who reports back that this is a great sauce to have on hand for busy nights when she’s not got a lot of time!)
Creamy Three Cheese: Rich and creamy with a blend of yellow and white cheeses, and a savory background of chicken stock, onion, garlic and cracked pepper, this is a great way to satisfy cheese lovers with Easy Weeknight Bacon Mac & Cheese, Twice-Baked Potato Pizza and Cheesy Egg Breakfast Tacos (I LOVE cheese. This is quite marvelous and easily my favorite. Plus…Bacon mac and cheese. Need I say more?)

This post is sponsored by Boudreaux’s Butt Paste®, the effective diaper rash cream that treats and prevents diaper rash with every change. Let’s kick some rash!
If there is one thing that parents can ALL agree upon, it might be that diaper rash is not fun at all. Not for the baby, and not for the parents or caregivers. Sure, treatment methods may vary, but ultimately? If you find a diaper rash treatment that works for your child, you stick with it. Always. I know for me, once I knew what worked for my babies’ skin, there wasn’t much that could persuade me to try other products, brands, etc. Having seen my little ones’ sore tushies and feeling like I wasn’t able to help them feel better wasn’t something I wanted to mess around with.
Boudreaux’s Butt Paste was a brand I tried for diaper rash treatment because the name caught my attention. It’s a brand I love and use even today because it works great on my kids. I still love the name.
My kids all had diaper rashes, but my daughter’s first diaper rash was the most memorable. I was so diligent about changing her frequently, and keeping her clean and as dry as possible, and like many diaper rashes, started as just a hint of redness on her diaper area. I patted her dry and put a small amount of cream on her. An hour later, I changed her diaper again. I was very surprised at how red her diaper area was even after I’d used a little bit of cream. This time, I decided we’d do some naked time on a blanket, and I let her “air” for a few minutes. I applied cream much more liberally after this and diapered her again, making a mental note to check her again in an hour. Thankfully, things didn’t get worse, and a few days of applying diaper cream liberally had her good as new. Other rashes we have had have been far worse, thankfully only a handful of them- most were about the same. I’ve tried to have quality diaper creams in the house that help to soothe tender skin and provide a barrier to wetness to keep that baby skin from getting worse and letting it heal. Like I said before, Boudreaux’s Butt Paste has always been a favorite brand to Kick some RASH! with!
One lucky reader will win a $150 Prize Pack including a $50 Target Gift Card, $50 Walmart Gift Card, and $50 Babies R Us Gift Card.

I wet the bed until I was in fourth grade. My parents tried everything they could- limiting fluids, waking me to pee at night- everything. My oldest had wasn’t fully night trained until she was 5 1/2 years old- she day trained at 21 months. I was told by more than one medical professional that until my child was dry at night and during the day that I could not say she was truly potty trained. I beg to differ. I also explained to them why I disagreed and respectfully asked them to educate themselves on my way out the door. (Politely).
No “babyish” designs for bigger kids- THANK YOU GoodNites!
Understanding where Potty Training ends and Bedwetting begins is crucial to finding the right solution for your child.
5-7 million children wet the bed in the United States according to the National Kidney Foundation – that’s more than the number of children who entered kindergarten in the United States in 2011 according to the U.S. Department of Education. (I always thought I was one of few with this problem. Turns out, nothing could be farther from the truth!)
95% of both boys and girls are potty trained by age four but 40% of parents say their child between the ages of 4 and 6 wets the bed at least once a week. (I’ve always believed that bedwetting and “night training” are totally separate of potty training)
GoodNites® Underwear are 40% more absorbent than the leading training pants and are specially designed to protect while lying down, to help protect pajamas and bedding, helping kids get a better sleep and wake up feeling ready for school. (My daughter has always been a very heavy wetter. There’s no training pant that was absorbent enough to keep her dry, and even if there were diapers that could keep her dry, I can’t imagine making my 5 1/2 year old wear a diaper just to stay dry– we need products like the GoodNites for bigger kids!!)
Finding a solution that works for your child is SO important. Educating ourselves about bedwetting vs. night time potty training is also important. I’m almost thankful that I’d been a bedwetter as a kid, because I felt like maybe I could understand more what my daughter was feeling. Some nights, she’d be in tears promising she’d wake up and not wet the bed. It was awful. She wanted it so badly, but like her mama, she’s a very heavy sleeper with really vivid dreams. Not conducive to waking up and getting to the bathroom on time.
Check out what Janel from A Mom’s Take thinks about this same topic!
One winner will win a Be Educated Kit (pictured above) that includes fun, educational activities and products for your child and a sample pack of new GoodNites Underwear with new designs from Marvel or Disney. (Exact styles may vary)
“GoodNites® provided me with a pack of GoodNites® Underwear and a Be Educated Kit to conduct a reader giveaway. However, my opinions on the product are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive sentiments towards GoodNites® or their products.”
Flatout Flatbreads were an INSTANT hit with my family. We’ve been using them for all kinds of things, and it’s actually been really fun this past week or so experimenting with new recipes and food combinations (if you know me, you know this is HUGE for me). The whole Flatout line is pretty much amazingly delicious- don’t forget what I said about the Spicy Italian being SPICY (my husband and 7 year old LOVE it)– and now one of YOU is going to get a chance to try these low carb, high fiber wraps and flatbreads that can replace regular bread…you can use them for pizza, panini, sandwiches, wraps, pinwheels, and so much more. They are SO good. We’ve been wanting to stop consuming bread so often and I think Flatbread is going to be how we do it- affordably priced and in basic flavors we all enjoy.
Of course, NOW they have a Soft Pretzel Foldit. That’s right. I can’t even wait. I had no for this morning, and now I do. We will be on a mission, my littlest one and I, to find Soft Pretzel Foldits. I must have them.
… One lucky reader will win a $50 Walmart gift card AND a Flatout prize pack!
