Doctor Dreadful Zombie Lab: Creepy, Gooey fun for everyone!

Doctor Dreadful Zombie Lab
is creepy, gooey, scary EDIBLE fun for everyone!  I looked at this toy and was all “um, iew?” but the kids?  Holy moly.  What is THAT, mom?  Can we play with it? Can we make it?  What can it do? Does it make boogers? Mom can we eat the boogers?

Right.  Kids+ Gross=Happy Children.

I almost forgot.

Truth be told, the creepy, gross stuff you are making is kind of like candy.  So don’t worry,  your kids aren’t really going to ingest slugs nor slimy snails.  They may be on a sugar high, but chances are they will have a TON of fun creating the stuff to give them the sugar high!

The tricky thing about the Doctor Dreadful line is that it encourages kids to concoct things, to measure, to experiment- to see what you can make with different ingredients. You know, kind of sneaking in a little taste of how cool science is and can be.  Plus, it’ll keep the kids busy for at least a full morning or three which, with school vacation coming up next week after Christmas, may be just the thing you want to add under the tree!!  Jenni’s oldest son has actually been asking away for this toy – I kind of like to think he saw it here and thought it was super cool. It’s a really cool thing to the 5 and up crowd!! [click to continue…]

Furreal Friends: Cookie My Playful Pup makes a great gift!!

Oh, how my six year old longs for a pet, of her very own, that she can keep in her room at all times. She is forever asking us for a pet dog, a pup, a fish of her own, a bird…the actual pet changes daily, but the request is the same. We have a dog, a cat and fish, and aren’t going to be adding any more creatures to our mix at the moment, but when my girl and I came across Cookie My Playful Pup from Furreal Friends in an advertising circular one day, we knew this was going to be a great compromise. Sure, it isn’t quite the same as a real, live pet, but Cookie also won’t have any “business” that may end up on the floor, or scratch furniture or floors with her nails. She doesn’t eat much (except probably batteries over time…haha) at all and sits nice and still when you pet her or want to put her hair into “pony” tails. Yes, we’ve tried it.  It isn’t pretty but my kid is semi-obsessed with putting pony tails with teeny tiny elastics into anything remotely resembling hair!!Its kind of like the perfect compromise for parents of young children who are begging for a pet of their own and are not able to have one for whatever reason!!
Another bonus? No allergies!!

Cookie interacts with your child (or you. Its very likely that you yourself will enjoy playing with Cookie), and that makes her even more appealing at least to the 6 year olds I know…especially my daughter!  I find the entire Furreal Friends line to be so much fun, and so engaging for little ones- last year, we got to meet Lulu, over the summer by oldest brought a Bunny into the house, and now we have Cookie. The lifelike resemblance of the animals’ movements and sounds is simply awesome.  I can’t even imagine how much I’d have screamed in delight had someone gotten me Cookie for Christmas!!  [click to continue…]

Imaginext DC Super Friends Green Lantern Planet OA

My little guy is all about superheroes. We spend a lot of time discussing them, playing them, being them…and since we already have the Imaginext Batcave, we figured it was time to add on to enhance the imaginative play in my son’s room. Fisher Price makes the Imaginext DC Super Friends Green Lantern Planet OA playset- a perfect addition to our superhero world, but also, a perfectly age- and developmentally appropriate toy for the littler crowd who may be Green Lantern fans. As a mom, I get frustrated when characters or themes that my children love are geared for older children, but marketed to younger ones, which is one of the reasons I love the Imaginext line- kids can feel like they are playing with “big kid” stuff, but it’s made for their size, their developmental skills and abilities, and built to withstand the play of a younger child. Kids have a lot more success- and FUN- when they are able to play with things how they want to, you know?

The Imaginext Green Lantern playset comes with a Green Lantern figure, a Kilowog figure, B’DG the squirrel figure, a projectile launcher, a projectile and a lantern that really lights up! Turn an activation disk to open the doors and explore the Planet OA! Boys will love recreating their favorite Green Lantern moments with this new playset!

Frosty’s Winter Wonderland Deluxe Edition

We are a Frosty the Snowman obsessed house.  My kids walk around singing Frosty all day, every day, and I was happy to have the chance to add some Frosty fun into our collection.  In Frosty’s Winter Wonderland, we pick up the story of Frosty and watch as he finds the love of his life- and experience the magic of Frosty plus one!!  I love that this keeps so true to the original holiday classic, and doesn’t modernize or update much.  Frosty needs no modernization nor updating.  He’s wonderful as he is.  This is, in my opinion, one of the “must have” DVDs to add to your holiday viewing collection.

From beloved song to animated holiday classic: Frosty meets his match in a glistening Remastered Deluxe Edition! Andy Griffith, Shelley Winters and Jackie Vernon lend their voices to this captivating cartoon about the Snowman’s winter return to the children of a small town for a winter season of fun and games. But he’s lonely at night when left by himself. So the grateful kids build him a beautiful snowlady companion. Jealous of the attention given Frosty, Jack Frost blows up a blizzard and swipes Frosty’s magical, life-giving hat. Only true love can bring Frosty back to his old fun-loving self. Two songs that have proven to be enduring seasonal favorites highlight the soundtrack: Frosty the Snowman and Winter Wonderland. [click to continue…]

GelPro Comfort Mats Review & #Giveaway #ShoutMedia 2 winners

There’s a beautiful new thing in my life, and it’s not too big, not too small, and sits in front of my kitchen sink.  It’s a GelPro Comfort Mat.  Mind you, I have seen these for years in magazines and thought to myself, “someday I want one of those!” and now, here we are, and guess what’s in my kitchen?  Oh yes, and you know what? I love it like I had thought I might.  Maybe more.  (I wasn’t sure if I’d trip over the edges a lot, but that’s not an issue.  This mat stays in place quite nicely and doesn’t trip me – or Mr. Bargains- up at all).

Comfort wise, I love this mat.  I don’t know why they call it a mat.  Maybe it should be the GelPro sweet cushy place for your feet to stand.  Although I guess that’s a mouthful.  But oh, it’s like a little slice of heaven.  Not t0o squishy, not too hard, just enough to say “ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.”  (Please note: this product doesn’t claim to make you actually want to clean more dishes.  I can confirm it won’t do THAT…but when you are stuck washing them anyway, it’s quite comfortable on the tootsies!) See, the gel core of the GelPro makes your weight distributed evenly.  So your back, your knees and your feet are getting to do what they are meant to do without any added pressure from uneven weight distribution.  The bottom is a super high-traction surface that stays in place- and with 4 ungraceful people in my family, including yours truly, we test this regularly.

The surface of these mats is not only stain, mold and mildew resistant, but also fashionable.  We’ve all seen products that are comfortable and …well, aesthetically horrifying, shall we say?  But this is not the case.  Colors, fabrics, textures- 45 styles and 10 colors mean you can probably find SOMETHING that will work in your space.  If not, well, send me an email, and I’ll give you my choices, and you can send another GelPro over to my house.  I want another for in front of my stove, and then I want some for the bathrooms.  I might even want one for where I find myself standing at the bottom of my stairs trying to get children to get their little selves ready for school!  (Apologies for photo quality- my camera battery is charging and these are cell shots, although I don’t know why this texture closeup is so grey- its a tan mat!!) Customized Case-Mate iPhone cases from #Giveaway

I was so excited when Queen B asked if I wanted to do a guest post and review an item for her blog.  I was even more excited when I learned I would have the opportunity to make a custom case for my Iphone on  I’m Ally and I’m one of Queen B’s BFF’s. is a cool website.  It is your go to site for anything personalized.  Tshirts, cards, mugs, ornaments, you name it.  The homepage of Zazzle is very easy to navigate.  I was able to find the tab for iPhone cases under the electronic’s category.  Once there, I was amazed at all of the beautiful cases they had to offer.  These aren’t your boring plain colored cases that you find at your local electronic stores or big box stores.  There was an amazing assortment of unique patterns and designs.
After looking at several cases, I decided to hit the “create your own case” button and make my own using a photo.  The hardest thing about making this case was deciding on what picture I wanted to use. In the end, a picture of myself with my 2 favorite people, my niece and nephew was the winner!  I was then brought to a screen where you chosse what case you wanted.  I chose the Custom Case Mate-ID case.  [click to continue…]

A Puppy Care Kit for Christmas #CBias #ILuvMyK9

Recently I shared with you my shopping trip for supplies for a Puppy Care Kit for my friend S and her little puppy, Penny,  pictured here.  Last week we headed back to Walmart to try to grab some of the Milo’s Kitchen products, and were again disappointed to find they weren’t in our store, but I think what we ended up with for a puppy care kit for this little sweetie will make for a very nice Christmas gift for her and her mama!!

While Penny is still a puppy she’s not a brand-new pup so I was able to get some things that she’ll maybe use before other pups would.  I know she loves purple so we had to be sure to get some purple in her puppy kit!!

STP MultiPurpose Motor Treatment for Older Motors (Boats, Tractors, Vehicles…) #CBias

We have a lot of things with motors in my house.  Well, maybe not my house, but definitely in the yard.  On our property for sure.  Tractors (oh yes, friends.  TractorS…and he’s sold 2).  We also have a boat, snowblower, weed wacker and some chainsaws.  Motors sometimes need a little bit more attention than just some gas added to their tanks.  So I sent Mr. Bargains to the store to get some STP MultiPurpose Motor Treatment.  What follows is his experience.  (Don’t get too excited, he’s not in photos.  Baby steps here, people!)

If there’s one thing my husband has taught me, it’s that maintenance is as important or more important than the machine/equipment you purchase.  You can buy the best of the best, but if you don’t maintain it, you’re throwing your money away.  We Bargains don’t throw money away.  So we maintain.  By “we” of course, I mean HE.

I sent Mr. B to Walmart with my cell with a camera, and instructions to document his shopping trip through photos.  He was very pleased to tell me upon his return that there weren’t too many people there doing Christmas shopping.  To him, shopping means making a (short, precise) list, driving to one store, entering, purchasing and leaving in 20 minutes or less.  There is no need to browse, nor to peruse a fun display.  Shopping is a necessary evil and he likes to minimize any time spent in a store.  (Can you guess who never takes the kids to a store??).

I’m actually supposed to have my husband write this post.  However, he’s a man of few words, and when I asked him to write, he said this:

“I went to the Walmart closest to us and I don’t want to go there again.  I wish they had the automotive section closer to the front so I could get in and out quicker.  I’m glad I went because I had to get a few presents for you and my brother.  I should have gotten some air and oil filters for the vehicles for the next oil changes.  I hope this STP MultiPurpose Motor Treatment I got works well because I put it in my truck and I have to commute to work in that truck.   That’s it.  Oh and maybe people should think about stuff like this, because cold weather can make your car, snowblower, tractor and stuff run differently, and it might just be the difference between a smooth running machine and a really frustrating morning shoveling for hours.  It’s worth a shot, it’s inexpensive, easy to find, and even easier to use.”  (He mentioned later he was a little disappointed he’d already stored the boat for winter because he’d have added it to that, as well.  He has since purchased 2 more cans of this product). FIFA Soccer 12 for Wii

FIFA Soccer 12 for Wii

This past Fall I ventured on to the soccer field as my son’s soccer coach.  I had never played the game but figured I could make it fun.  12 cold weeks later the season ended much to my relief.  Coaching a group of 7 year old boys on the soccer field is a challenge.  But, I learned a lot about the sport and bonded with my son.  So, when I saw that FIFA Soccer 12 was being released I knew we had to have it.  The game is a lot of fun and the graphics are great.  It takes a bit to get used to the controls but once my son and I got the hang of it things got very competitive.  Every time I took a shot on goal and missed, the whole house knew about it.  If either of us made a goal we both would cheer.  FIFA Soccer 12 for the Wii has so many different ways to play and you can build your own soccer city.  This game is would be a good gift for the soccer fanatic in your home but everyone will have fun.

EzyRoller (#Giveaway #Rafflecopter)

I have a gift idea (or anytime idea) that is fun for the WHOLE family. Well, at least the 4+ members of your family…although I think 3+ can handle it. The Ezy Roller is a cross between a bike and a scooter, and it is FUN…for anyone.  Fun like my neighbors got one “for the kids” and I think they ended up using it as much as the kids.  Maybe more?  Plus they had us come over and check it out, and then we decided, hey!! This looks fun!!  It’s all kid (or grownup kid) powered- no batteries, nothing.  Needed to get one.  Wanted to have a This Mama Loves Her Bargains reader win one to try at their house.
Seriously, though, playing together as a family is good for the heart, good for the soul, and something we ALL need more of.  The Ezy Roller is a great way to do that!!  I have yet to meet anyone, my children included, that doesn’t LOVE this thing.  Chances are, you will too! This roller is easy to assemble, easy to adjust, and really just a ton of fun. My only issue is that with just one Ezy Roller, you may have problems with people not wanting to share….so you may need two. Or three. [click to continue…]
