Muppets “Together Again” tshirts on (giveaway)

I LOVE the Muppets and I can’t wait for the movie to come out (November seem so very far away…)  and in the meantime, I can enjoy the favorite character friends from my childhood on this super fun t shirt I got just today from!  They had a contest for Muppet shirts and this was the winning design ‘Together Again” – its only JUST now offered online for purchase and one of you will be winning one for yourself!

Mind you, this is actually a men’s shirt but I’m not sharing this one.  No way.  I LOVE it.  I love the bold, bright colors and the way Alfonso Diaz designed the characters’ faces and colors- so fun, so funky, and so very COOL, especially for those (like me and Mr. Bargains too) who grew up watching the Muppets.  The shirt itself is super soft, and the tag is stamped on so no risk of itching.  Threadless always offers really fun and different shirts and this is no exception!  Be the first to grab one! No More Bugz! Organic Insect Repelling Bug Balm

Its mid July in CT and we live near woods.  That makes for many, many bugs especially at dusk, when we’re trying to play outside after dinner, swim, do yard chores, etc.  I’m always on the lookout for bug repellants that don’t contain DEET or harmful to your skin ingredients, so I jumped at the chance to try the No More Bugz! balm from Green Girls Market.  The first thing I liked about this product was the cute label, but I find it hard to resist anything that’s pink in color!!  I do really like the product being in a balm form instead of a spray.  (There is a spray available, but we got to try the balm, and I’m not sure I want to go back to sprays now. I lOVE the balm).  It feels like I can get more coverage on the kids instead of wasting some with each spritz.   My 6 year old likes it because she can apply it herself, without struggle or frustration.  The scent is very, very mild and offers a hint of citronella but not an overbearing one.  [click to continue…]

timi & leslie: Not your mama’s boring diaper bags!

If you have kids or friends with kids, chances are you have heard of timi & leslie bags.  I’ve drooled over them for years now, to be quite honest.  Never before have I actually owned one, until last month.  Guess what bag I used to tote my stuff around LA when I was there for the Cars 2, Winnie the Pooh and The Help media events?   The Dawn bag, in Raspberry, from timi & leslie.  I got so many compliments on it!

Caution: only wear this bag if you don’t mind getting tons of compliments! It’s made from easy to clean faux leather (PVC free) and features our custom hardware in a gold finish. Dawn comes with many functional and fashionable accessories and features: [click to continue…]

Sonsi’s Style Your Way- Outfitting Tool & Summer Challenge

For those of us who are a size 12 and up, finding style tools can be a challenge.  For those of us who are a 12 or greater for sizing and have a lack of fashion sense, this is an obstacle.  I was recently introduced to Sonsi’s Style Your Way-Outfitting Tool and it’s very, very fun.  (I can see it also getting very, very expensive, very very quickly, because you just keep finding adorable this to go with that and oh if I got those shoes and this bag I could wear this top to XYZ and to 123…)  [click to continue…]

Kids Summer Fun: Lenticular Human Body Poster (Giveaway)

I don’t know about your kids, but mine have a fascination with the human body.  Be it bodily functions, how the moves and works, what bones look like, etc….  They love anything that has to do with the body.  I suppose they could have gotten this trait from me.  I always loved science and majored in Biology in college.  We have numerous books and puzzles that focus on the skeletal and muscular systems.  However, we did not have a human body poster.  Educational Insights has offered up another great review and giveaway this month.  We had the opportunity to review the Lenticular Human
Body Poster this month.  This is a large poster that features 4 layers of the human body in one poster.  It is the perfect size for hanging on the back of a bedroom door.  My kids were mesmerized by the changing image as they rotated the poster.  I think they found in particularly intruiging that the poster features 2 small children, which makes it more relatable.

  • 19″W x 27″H lenticular poster
  • Presents multiple layers of human body in magical way
  • Includes outside, skeletal system, muscular system, and organs
  • Packaged in polybag with header card
  • Associated reproducibles posted online

Mister G: Bugs (a must have kid album) FREE Song Download & Giveaway!

We love listening to music.  More often than not my kids want to have a dance party in the living room, or in the kitchen.  We love to shake groove, and beebop (especially when the curtains are closed and no one can see This Mama bust a move…).  Right now an almost constant in the cd player is BUGS from Mister G.  His Twitter bio says its Dr Seuss meets Jack Black and I can’t think of a better description.  Fun and funky, sunny and spunky.  I love it and the kids love it.  I’ve even caught Mr. Bargains tapping his toes along with the beat (he’s not a dancer).

There’s 14 songs on this album, including the title song, Bugs, Cocodrillo, Gonna Take My Hat (one of my faves), Grilled Cheese, Friends, The Shortest Song, Snow Day, Shark in My Bathtub (Buddy B’s fave), Blast Off, Pam the Pug, Brothers and Sisters, Ghost and Goblins, Vamos a la Playa, and Benny on the Jets.  SO many fun songs, so much dancing to do!! Schwan’s for dinner again!

Tonight we had Black Angus Steak Burgers  from Schwan’s on the grill with Mini Super Sweet Corn on the Cob also grilled…and then some Loaded Waffle Cone Peanut Butter Swirl Ice Cream (cones) for dessert.  Or rather, the family did.  I did have a few bites of the ice cream (no cone) and 2 mini corn cobs…so delicious.

This was only the second time we’ve tried Schwan’s at home and we were again happy  The burgers were a nice size, not too thick, quite juicy.  The corn cobs didn’t last long at all- we LOVE corn on the cob around here…I didn’t even put salt on my corn cobs and that says a lot- I can do without butter but I need a bit of salt on my corn!! My take on Winnie the Pooh and a clip of Owl’s Cold :o)

The first time I saw the Winnie the Pooh movie (open TODAY, July 15th!!)when I was in LA, I loved it.  I knew I would- I have such fond memories of reading the A.A. Milne books as a child with my mom and well, I grew up with Pooh, Tigger, Kanga, Roo and Eeyore.  The Hundred Acre Wood was in my imagination just as it was in Christopher Robin’s…and oh, the memories and nostalgia I felt when I watched this movie for the first time….and I think what I loved so very much about it is that the folks at Disney kept the friends as I knew them growing up- they weren’t older, nor different, they weren’t better, definitely not smarter, although maybe, just maybe, they were a little quicker on the reply…this made me so happy.

So Disney, this is my official THANK YOU for keepin’ it real.  Really, truly.  I only wish my mom could see it with me.  Then it’d be just perfect.

Last weekend, I got to take my kids to the screening of the movie.  My kids have not been to too many movies in the theater, and the littlest one isn’t quite 2 so she’s never been…but I decided to bring them all.  Sure, people told me I was brave, bringing three little kids solo to a theater, but the gift I brought Baby B home from my trip was a big, stuffed, snuggly soft Pooh Bear that she’s toted around ever since.  “Ba-yer” goes everywhere with her- he sits in a chair near hers when she eats, and goes for rides in the dump truck and stroller around the house.  Pooh is not to be missed when it’s time for bed, either, or things get ugly.  So you can see, I had to bring her to see her beloved pal on the big screen.  So, I took my 23 month old with us to her first movie.
