Nikita Season One: What we do for friends

During Season One of Nikita, Nikita and Alex grow and become a team as the show progresses, but aiding Nikita could mean death for Alex if she’s ever found out.

The friendship of Alex and Nikita is kind of a strange one- obviously I’ve never done something as Alex has for my friends (Hey, none of my friends are actual spies…that I’m aware of?!  Anyone have something they want to share with me?) so most of what I’ve done for friends is drive them to the airport, promise to be a godmother to their child(ren) or help them find important information (like bargains, sales, deals…lawyer phone numbers…you know, mundane stuff?)

Really, if I have someone who is a trusted friend, I’d do just about anything for them, aside from putting them before my family.  I wouldn’t hesitate to help a friend, no matter how odd the request.  I’ve shared nursing pads, birth stories, tears, coffee, why not funny stories?  I think I’m just too boring to be anywhere near as exciting as Nikita and her cohorts are.

What is the strangest request that you’ve ever done for a friend and given the choice now would you do it again?

Gossip Girl Season 4 on DVD plus bonus features

The complete fourth season of Gossip Girl not only has 22 episodes filled with love, betrayal, friendship and scandal, but also never-before-seen features such as unaired scenes and gag reels!
I don’t know about you but one of the best parts of owning series or movies on DVD is the bonus features- so often I find hilarious outtakes, extra footage (and often wonder why it wasn’t included in the series or film) and so much more that enhances the show/movie so much more!
The complete fourth season of Gossip Girl includes never-before-seen additional enhanced features: Bisoux a Paris (an inside look at Serene and Blair’s summer in the City of Lights), The Art of Making an Episode (an in-depth look at how Gossip Girl stories build from page to screen) and unaired scenes!  [click to continue…]

Would you change the future if you could?

At the end of Fringe Season 3, Peter makes the decision to sacrifice himself thus altering the future. If you were given the opportunity to change the future, would you take matters into your own hands, or would you trust in fate?

I would not change the future, given the chance.  As much as I’d want to- I think things happen for a reason.  I feel like messing with fate is asking for trouble but that’s my personal belief.  I do enjoy watching others mess with fate for my entertainment on television and the big screen, of course.  As much as I’d even like to go back and do some things differently in my life- I know that I’d not have learned the lessons I learned, nor gained the knowledge or experience I have now- and were things different, I would not have the life I have now.  I can’t imagine not having my husband nor all three of my children- I can’t imagine going back and changing anything about the past.  Although I could totally make an exception for that awful asymmetrical haircut I sported in sixth grade.  Yuck-o.

When Your Worlds Collide (Fringe: Season 3)

Season 3 of Fringe is set within two distinctive worlds where one world is affected by the actions that occur in the other.

How often do you feel like your professional and personal worlds collide? How does your online persona differ from who you present yourself as professionally?

My professional and personal worlds collide more and more frequently lately. With me, you kind of get what you get.  I’m Brett, I’m me, and this is what you get.  With some people that I’ve known in my travels, their personal and professional lives are totally separate, and their personas from those separate lives aren’t the same.  I can’t imagine what it would be like to act very differently at my place of work than my personal life and have those worlds collide.  Which of “you” would you act like most? First?  I’d be so confused.  I can’t imagine living in a world where you are affected by the actions of yourself in an entirely different world as the characters on Fringe are.  But that’s why the show is fun to watch- because someone else is imagining it for me! Big Bang Theory Season 4 on DVD

Bazinga!  I have to admit, here and now, that Big Bang Theory is one of my very favorite shows.  Probably my favorite.  I just love it.  I’m not sure if its just one thing or the melding of the stories, the characters and the folks who play their parts so well, but I have (I think) seen every single episode since the pilot and loved them all!  And yes, I do admit I have a tiny little crush on Sheldon Cooper

A lot of people go after hip and popular, but these days geek is chic. This is good news for folks like me who are, while admittedly not as smart as Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and Raj, still geeky!  Well, it would be, were I not married.  But its nice to see the geeks and underdogs being in the spotlight for GOOD reason for a change- which is probably yet another reason I love this show so much!! I like seeing the beautiful girl fall for a guy for the right reasons, and for the underdog to be the victorious one so often.  Plus the show is just FUNNY.  Even Mr. Bargains enjoys it, and it is not often we both truly enjoy entire shows- usually we just watch because the other wants to- but not Big Bang Theory.  Perhaps because we were never hip nor popular ?  I don’t kn0w- I just know this show works and we love it!

Big Bang Theory: Season 4 is available for pre-order and will be released on September 13 2011. [click to continue…]

Would you cut ties to be a spy? (Nikita Season One)

On Nikita, “The Division” recruits troubled youth, erase their background and shapes them into spies and assassins. If given the chance, would you neglect your current life for one of globe trotting spy work if it meant you would have to cut all ties with everyone in your life?

I can tell you without certainty that I would not be able to cut all ties with everyone in my life. No way. My family means far too much to me as do my friends, and I cannot imagine life without them in it. While the spy world seems hip and cool, it is definitely not for me- but I do love to watch the spy world on TV and the big screen!

I think the sacrifices that spies make is part of the draw to why people love to watch spy stories so much- they give so much of their lives away- permanently- its so hard to imagine doing ourselves, so we watch fascinated as others do it.  I’m not quite sure that most of the people you’d meet in the real world of spies would look much like their counterparts on the screen either!! In honor of Supernatural Season 6 on DVD: When siblings are separated

On Supernatural, the brothers Winchester face a short separation from the end of Season 5 and the beginning of Season 6. Dean lives with a woman and is raising a child, and Sam is still hunting. The two brothers re-unite again and immediately get down to their old demon fighting tricks.

I’ve had separations from my siblings for various reasons many times- but I think the longest was from 2 of my brothers, C and T.  I didn’t see either of them for 10+  years from when I was 2 until just after I turned 12, I believe,  and I’m not going to go into the how or why that happened- but I will tell you- while wonderful that reunion was also kind of strange- I mean, here were these two grown men (I’m the youngest by far in my family) and they were my brothers- but I knew nothing about them!  I was super nervous, and I’m sure they were too.  I know that they gave me a “Heart” album as a present when they arrived at our house for dinner and I thought they were both just the coolest.people.ever.  Of course, as time wore on, instead of me viewing them as these two super-human, amazing, magnificent people, I started to know them, and love them as brothers, and realize, that they were just as regular as could be.  [click to continue…]

In honor of Season 3 of Fringe coming on DVD: An alternate universe question

In Season 3 of Fringe, Olivia and her alternate version switch places – wherein each Olivia becomes trapped in her respective alternate universe. Pre-order your copy of Fringe: The Complete Third Season on DVD here today: http://bit.ly/o2MYBv !

If a version of you existed in an alternate universe, what kind of different decisions would the alternate you make?

This is such a deep question.  I know there are those who just adamantly won’t “go there” because they firmly believe there is no alternate universe.  But one of the things about television and movies that is so appealing to the masses is that you can kind of escape reality and what is true, and regardless of the genre of the program or film you are watching, follow your alternate reality, or a dream world- its the make believe that appeals to us, that’s seemingly why we enjoy television so much.  (Even “reality” tv is not fully “real” and people watch those shows like crazy!!) Gossip Girl fashion: are you more like Blair or Serena?

When fans discuss Gossip Girl, they talk about the fashion almost as much as they dish on the scandal!  Whether Serena and Blair are dressed in designer ready-to-wear or couture off the runway, their ensembles are always high-end and on trend. Each girl’s style reflects her individual personality–Blair’s style is classic Upper East Side chic while Serena’s style is sexy and effortless.

I am not a fashionista.  Far, far from it.  But I do enjoy seeing how others put their ensembles together, and think its fun to watch what the characters on my favorite shows get to watch.  Even the characters who have no financial means are always dressed well- it is kind of fun to see what can be done with a (seemingly) unlimited wardrobe budget for a television show.  It kind of makes me wonder how fashionable I would be, and how receptive I’d be to being more fashionable, were I given a wardrobe hand picked by advisors, and not paid for by me!! I can’t say I would be dressing “sexy” but it might be fun to be trendy- definitely no stilettos for me but then again…oh wait.  No.  Just because someone else is dressing me doesn’t mean they’ve taught me to walk in shoes like that!!  [click to continue…]
