This post is brought to you by our friends at Dole Fruit Parfaits, which are a fun treat that really satisfies my sweet cravings without piling on tons of calories. The single sized servings also means I’m not over-indulging (hey, you don’t get curves like this without overindulging a time or two!). The parfaits are simple and sweet- layers of fruit and sweet cream in the perfectly sized portion to let me have a quick midday escape without leaving the house. I decided a few weeks ago that when the kids are napping that I will take 45 minutes to an hour each day to indulge in mommy escape time- frequently, I have been enjoying a snack (the Apples and Creme flavor of the Dole Fruit Parfait is my latest go-to treat) and reading a book. (I’m into the Kingdom Keepers based in Disney World right now).
The Dole Fruit Parfaits are made with real fruit. They have 120 calories each, so it’s an indulgence that isn’t going to be adding too much to the waistline. These are definitely a sweet treat, but being low in fat and lower in calories than many other sweets, a better-for-you option that satisfies the sweet cravings. The fruit parfaits are rich in Vitamin C, low fat, cholesterol free and low in sodium. A healthier dessert than many others!
My daughter says that these fruit parfaits taste just like pie. She loves the Peaches and Creme. She’d like to bring them for snacks daily for school but I put the kabosh on that idea. These are a sweet treat! They come in three flavors: Apples and Creme, Pineapples and Creme and Peaches and Creme. Priced about $2.79 per 4 pack, they are an affordable and very portable treat. We don’t have things like this all the time but they are fun to have for a treat or special occasion. You can find them where the canned fruits are sold at your local grocery store (and be sure to watch for sales and coupons- then you can get the most for your money!)
I have a feeling we’ll be enjoying some of these fruit parfaits with picnic dinners throughout the spring and summer.
Have you tried the Dole Fruit Parfaits? What did you think? I love the apple- my oldest the peaches and my little ones love the pineapple. It’s worked out quite nicely that no one has to share much!
