If a version of you existed in an alternate universe, what kind of different decisions would the alternate you make?

This is such a deep question.  I know there are those who just adamantly won’t “go there” because they firmly believe there is no alternate universe.  But one of the things about television and movies that is so appealing to the masses is that you can kind of escape reality and what is true, and regardless of the genre of the program or film you are watching, follow your alternate reality, or a dream world- its the make believe that appeals to us, that’s seemingly why we enjoy television so much.  (Even “reality” tv is not fully “real” and people watch those shows like crazy!!)

I don’t know how an alternate “Me” would be.  Or rather, I don’t know how *I* would be in an alternate universe.  Or maybe that would be two different situations.  Once I start to think about that, I get distracted.  Who would play me?  Would both me’s have the same hair, the same style, the same voice?  Would I be like identical twins just in alternate universes?
What if the alternate me was a “bad” person?  That scares me.  Maybe if the alternate me was able to throw caution to the wind and fly by the seat of her pants?!  Maybe the alternate me is a thin person who loves to exercise!  Of course, if that were the case, then the alternate me of that alternate me would be changing places with one unhappy Brett.  Alterna-Brett.  The big question would be: is the other Brett a mom blogger?  OR Does she love pink?  Does she make her kids match all the time?

Its a lot easier when you are thinking about changing places with someone when you are watching a TV show than trying to imagine your own alternate version of yourself!

I have been hired by Warner Bros. WBWord division to promote Fringe: The Complete Third Season on DVD/Blu-Ray.

  • Yeah that is a deep question alright. The #1 decision that alternate me would make is to finish college, finish the degree!
