I am fairly certain you are all well aware by now that I lean towards the non-chemical side of life. Perhaps too far at times but hey, it’s my lean!! Anyway, with 2 little girlies in the house, there is likely to be about 5000 nail painting sessions in the next 15 years and if they are going to have pretty piggies, they might as well be safe, non-toxic pretty piggies.
I discovered Piggy Paint last winter, and immediately thought they were too expensive. I thought it was sort of…insane? or something, to pay those prices for a bottle of nail polish! For kids! But then I went to a salon (my sister has officially retired from doing my hair *sob*) and discovered that bottles of OPI other brands were easily the same price. It kind of got me thinking, as I stood there with a bottle of the sparkly goodness in my hand…if I’m willing to pay that much to have something sit on my nails around the clock, why NOT have it be safe? I work so hard to keep harmful chemicals out of our house and bodies, this seemed to me a logical step. So, the next time I had a little Paypal cash saved up, a love affair was born.
Love at first sight, is what I felt when that adorable little box came in my mailbox. (Seriously. Like a box for a bracelet size. Super cute).
LOOK at all of the colors! I won’t lie, we have about half of them now. They have a new line, Project Earth, aimed for ‘Tweens. We have the radioactive color from that line, which glows in the dark.
It doesn’t look different from regular polishes, to be honest. But that’s ok. You’ll know the difference when you open the bottles. The room won’t fill with the smell of nail polish. (It’s almost weird!) Plus, at least for me, I like knowing there isn’t anything “yuck” sinking into my kids’ skin (I have to say kids because my little guy has maybe had a blue toenail or 2 the past month or so. Maybe)…or on mine! I’ve switched over to using Piggy Paint now, too- and the remover as well.
Piggy Paint sent us one polish color- Forever Fancy (the names are so cute) and one bottle of the remover.
Here are my thoughts about them:
The Polish: Awesome. Shimmery, nice fun pink color, easy to apply. It does chip easier than most polishes but if you use a blowdryer between coats that definitely helps extend the life of the mani or pedi!!
The Remover: Great!! Again, without the nasty chemical smells. It DOES take longer to get polish off with this remover but if you get a cotton ball really saturated and kind of hold it against the nail for a few seconds, then move to the rest of the nails on that hand or foot, and then go back to wipe, it comes off much easier.
We are hooked. I bet you will be, too!
I have been having some fun with designs and colors. Check this!! (So easy to do- dip the end of a wood BBQ skewer into the polish and it makes a bigger dot than a toothpick!!)
See her big toe? I’m all sorts of proud of that little flower.
I did her fingers in the opposite color- coordination!!
Here are MY nails for good measure:
See? You totally cannot tell this is different from normal polish!
