Oh, keeping my kitchen chairs clean. It’s a constant battle with 3 kids under the age of 6. I have tried lots of different solutions. Placing a standard chair pad in my kitchen chairs is not a good solution for me. I have constant spills to contend with and regular fabric is not easy to wipe clean. In addition, the pads are usually “spot clean only”. This poses a big problem after an entire glass of milk is dumped onto it. I have tried covering my chair (and you will also note, my floor) in plastic, but this is not pleasant to sit on. While I can wipe up spills on plastic, I still can’t throw it in the washing machine.
Smart Seat chair protectors are a great solution to those looking to protect their chair pads from spills and stains.
“The SmartSeat chair protector is a waterproof, stain resistant, and machine washable cover made from soft-to-the-touch, toxin-free fabric. The SmartSeat’s patent-pending design uses adjustable straps to securely fit chairs ranging from 18″ to 25″ wide.”“
These chair protectors come in 4 colors: Navy, Black, Brown and Tan. I had a chance to try out the black (I wanted to match my kitchen appliances). I like the versatility that these
chair protectors offer. They will fit on a number of different chair shapes and sizes. They simply attach to your chair using velcro straps. The website offers vidoes on how to securely attach your chair protectors (I think I could probably get mine to fit a little more snug and smooth if I worked on it a little more).
My 2 year old had the opportunity to try out his new seat over waffles for breakfast. He put it to the test! Crumbs and syrup. They wiped up nicely and the chair was nice and clean after one swipe of a washcloth. He also enjoyed sitting on the fabric instead of a plastic cover.
I really like the idea of this product. However, I do believe that they would probably fit a little more nicely on a kitchen chair that has the padding attached. That being said, The Smart Seat Chair Protector is an easy and fast solution for those looking to avoid stains and spills.
