We went on a TOP SECRET shopping mission to Target today #xtremeschoolglue #gluenglitter

We received an envelope marked CONFIDENTIAL and TOP SECRET earlier this week. After giggling at the idea of my kids and me being anything but conspicuous at the store, or anywhere, we opened the package to check out the new, top secret product we’d be using to make a craft from the folks at Elmer’s. Having been armed with our top secret craft necessity, we headed (a few days delayed due to me being stuck in bed for 2 days with a nasty bout of bronchitis) to Target this morning to peruse the “crafts” area of the store and to check out the product there.

The product: X-TREME school glue. So cool. It’s the quality of Elmer’s we all know and love with a little extra adhesive for stronger hold- so the bigger, tougher projects can be done with the X-Treme.

Mission: Fail. (Sort of). My store doesn’t sell X-TREME school glue (yet). Sad. (I do find it funny that a major competitor I shopped at not 2 weeks ago for a different Elmer’s product already had the secret product on their shelves, when they are almost never stocked with what we go looking for!!) but we did find lots of cool and fun craft ideas and I decided since its been ho-hum boring around here with mom being sick that I’d let the kids choose the craft.

The rest of the mission: SUCCESS!! The kids chose a foam set with sea life because they are all kinds of excited for our pool to open and to go swimming, and they know their mom adores dolphins…so in the cart that set went and off we went to get the rest of our list- cleats for T-Ball, a spiral ham and a pink Red Sox shirt for me (fail). I love Target and its variety of merchandise!!

We actually made a stop at Jenni’s house on the way home (my co-blogger) and did another craft, non-glue, though…once we did that we got in the van and came home to do a quick lunch and get Busy B on the bus for PM Kindergarten.

Time to get a’craftin’!!   Since this was a foam set with pre-cut shapes and letters, all the kids needed to do was put glue on their foam sheets and place their shapes and letters where they wanted.  You cna see below both of them had a GREAT time applying the X-TREME glue stick!  (I actually really like the chunkier stick because its easier for little hands to grasp onto).

There are certainly tons of other crafts you can do with the new X-TREME sticks, but since my 21 month and 3.5 year old were doing this project with me today, I figured I should stay simple for their sake.  So much fun!

This project has been compensated as part of a craft recipe project using Elmer’s #collectivebias.  All opinions expressed within are my own.

  • Hi! You’re brave to let the little ones have the glue! I cringe when my kids have it out! I’m here from Follow Me Friday (Madame Deals). Thanks. I was already following (probably from an awesome past contest). If you haven’t already been following, I appreciate you stopping by sometime soon.
