(Animated) My Thoughts: Our entire family sat down to watch this film on a lazy Sunday afternoon. We had read the book together and were anxious to see how it translated into a movie. Right from the start you can tell that this is not going to be a “Disney type” movie. It has a haunting intro song and the feel of the movie is a little bit darker. It wasn’t so dark that it was scary or inapprorpriate for the preschool set, it just had a different vibe. We really enjoyed that this movie wasn’t cookie cutter. It really held the attention of our children (and the adults as well). I love the animation and how it almost feels as if you are reading the book. The length of the film is perfect. I find that after 40 minutes our attention starts to wander anyway. I was able to put this movie on before betime or after naptime. The kids enjoyed the film and then continued on with their day. I didn’t need to feel guilty for letting them watch an entire film, which can often occupy up to 2 hours of their day. 2 thumbs up! My kids just loved this film and ask to see it again and again. I also want to recommend The Gruffalo website. After watching the movie, we looked up the website and were instantly charmed by the music and activities available. They have a ton of information for fans, song clips and games for the kids. The Gruffalo can now be purchased at your local retailer or on Amazon.
