>We received a copy of the book, My Purple Toes, for review. I love it. Its a cute (and durable!) board book which from first glance, seems like a cute, silly story book- but when you start reading it you realize, Mr. Hahn has managed to sneak in some very important lessons while writing about a dad sporting purple painted toenails. Nice job, Mr. Hahn! Color This Mama impressed (get it? color-purple toes?)
Anyway, I love this book. I love the adorable illustrations but I really love how the message of acceptance is presented in such a silly, warm and funny way. There are also some cute things stuck in like “Can you count my purple toes?” and there’s a little green frog hiding on each page to find. My kids like to see who can point the frog out the fastest.
I love this book. I am looking forward to Mr. Hahn’s My Purple Kisses set to come out in time for Valentine’s Day of 2011.
One thing I would like you to know that is not about the book, but about what is done with monies from the sale of the book, which is available online, is that “My Purple Toes” donates a significant portion of its proceeds to benefit children in the United States and around the world through nonprofit,Soles4Souls, which collects and distributes shoes at no cost to people in need.
So you have this really cute book that’s teaching kids some majorly important lessons, in a fun, whimsical way, and then here they are giving away some of their profits to benefit children who need shoes. Awesome. Two thumbs up for you, My Purple Toes!
If you like parties (and really, who doesn’t like a good party!?) check out the Purple Parties!!
