>Brio Train Review

We are huge fans of building train tracks, and playing trains around the Bargain house.  We’ve been known to spend hours- yes, I said we- all of us, making giant tracks that take up most of the living room and racing trains, you name it.  Train track + trains = hours of family fun.  My husband loves building ramps for the kids to race their trains down.  I don’t have his engineering skills so I make loops and circles that intertwine.

We have a few different kinds of track but one that has the most sentimental meaning to me is our Brio track- and the trains.  When some of my nephews were little my mom gave them Brio sets- blocks, trains…she thought the world of Brio as a company and always sought to purchase their products before others.  She passed away before my kids were old enough for her to start their Brio collections so one of my sisters chose to start it in her place.  There’s just something about the quality of construction about Brio.  Love it.

We got to do a review of some Brio train stuff, and its been wonderful.  They sent us three items for our review-  the 8 Wheel Rechargeable Train Engine (finally!! I’ve been hoping someone would come out with one of these forever!!) and  the Auto Stop & Start Track plus the Animal Yard, which you can see in the Amazon box inside this post.

As always, these are excellent quality that you can tell will be around for a very long time!! We have all had a great time especially with the animal sounds- they make the Baby laugh and laugh so we all use it a ton.  I love how simple the animals are.  Simple, basic, classic.  Leads to being played with in many ways.  (I think I saw some Brio animals in a teapot today……..)

I love love love the idea of the rechargeable train engine.  Its superb.  The kids like it, although like me, I think they did notice quickly that when you have a lot of twists and curves on your track, the engine has a hard time staying on track- I think there are just too many wheels for it to turn easily.  I can’t wait to see what the next step from this first rechargeable engine is!!  It does great on a simple circle or figure 8- but the way we Bargains build things- its always slipping.  Of course, if its a demolition derby kind of day which my little guy has sometimes, its hilarious to see it go off track!

The stop and start track is always a fun addition, especially when more than one kid is playing at the tracks- they can make the other’s train “stop” and pay a toll or something else silly…or stop them to “slow down” because there are animals on the tracks ahead (a frequent occurance in this house!).

The items that we were sent for review are STILL available at the website at a significant discount.  The entire line is not available but the items we were sent along with some other pieces are available so if you have little engineers in your house you may want to think about grabbing some of these up for the holidays!!
