Disney’s Frozen Sven Marshmallow Pops

OK, I KNOW you have heard of Disney’s Frozen. Chances are, since its out on BluRay/DVD, you’ve even finally seen it.  And chances are, if you saw it, you loved it.  I mean, it is fantabulous.  Or the kids have brainwashed me into believing it is because they sing the songs and act out the movie all day every day.  Either way. (I’m pretty sure its the former not the latter). The characters in this film are just fun to watch and fun to love.  There’s been a whole lotta lovin’ for the ever adorable Olaf, beautiful sisters Anna and Elsa, but one of my faves in the movie was Sven, the strong, silent and slightly sarcastic reindeer. He isn’t getting quite enough love and attention in my book, so I had to come up with a way to pay homage to his awesome.  So here are my Sven Marshmallow Pops!

What’s your love story? #BlankandBow #CleverGirls AD

Thank you Disney’s Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story for sponsoring this post. Don’t miss the adventures of Blank and Bow in the in the short film now available for free on Google Play.

disney vinylmation blank and bow meeting

I watched Disney’s “Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story” over the weekend.  It’s a love story like Disney’s not done before- it’s 38 minutes of stop motion animation and tells the story of Blank discovers his one true love, Bow, and the story of their separation and ultimately, their reunion.  Along the way there are obstacles to be overcome and friendships to be made.

Love stories are always fascinating to me. I don’t care if it’s short, long, silly, funny, I love them all.  Hearing the way two people connected in such a deep way is just something that warms my soul.  It’s never the same story twice, you know? Many tales of friendship are the same way.  We have all got those connections in our lives that never stop meaning the world to us- no matter how great the distance or how long it’s been since we’ve been together.

Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story – Trailer on Disney Video
What stood out to me most about Blank and Bow was their lack of color or apparent features- although honestly, it took a split second to understand what they were feeling and hoping for.  And really, it isn’t their lack of features, but how their appearance let you focus on what was happening so much more and not focusing on the characters so much.

Bow is taken from Blank to be brought to a color factory to be designed, and while Bow fights his way and follows her long distances, they also discover together that, along with other blank figures, they can band together and let others see that creating their own look is absolutely ok. They make some very colorful friends (literally) along the way and it’s really sweet to watch friendships unfold without a word spoken aloud.

As for my love story, well, it starts at a house party a few towns from where we live now.  I went to surprise a very dear friend from summer camp I hadn’t seen in a long time, her boyfriend’s band was playing at the party.  My J was there, as he’d been roommates with Ann’s boyfriend back in school… but I thought he was meant to meet up with my friend Maryanna, and all I could tell her all night was to go for it, and how cute he was.  A few months later, a group of us went to celebrate my birthday, and Maryanna and I had mutual friends with J…so they dragged him along promising him there would be 4 single ladies celebrating…

Well, it took about 4 seconds for me to have a goofy grin on my face.  Maybe less for him (he’d never admit to that). We were dancing and talking and having the most wonderful time… and honestly, it took him several days to call, but we’ve really been inseparable ever since. That second chance meeting was enough for both of us and we knew, this was it.   Like blank, I’d have and would still followed my J around the world to be with him again.

As for my friendship with Ann, we grew up in different states. We spent summers together at Camp Nokomis in New Hampshire.  4-8 weeks together depending on the year. The friendships I have from my years at camp never cease to amaze me. We don’t see one another often, several years often go by between visits, but the moment we are together, that’s it.  Time’s gone.

What’s your love story? Friendship story? Have you watched Blank and Bow?

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

Personalizing Holiday Memories #PCHoliday

This is a sponsored post with Provide Commerce and the Social Media Chicks. All opinions are my own.

Christmas is such a special time of year for so many of us.  There are so many memories wrapped up in the whole idea of the holidays.  Personalizing holiday memories is one way to give those memories another element, and this year, we turned to Personal Creations to add some personal touches to gifts.  We did some items for others, like special ornaments for the kids, relating to their current interests.  We also chose an Advent calendar which can double as a gift “stocking” of sorts- that will be filled for my brother in law’s kids with some Christmas surprises for them.  It’s a double gift!

personalized-advent-stocking-calendar-#PCHoliday

Disney “Through the Years” Tree is a Collectible item.  It’s a keepsake- it’s gorgeous, and the kids will love it and want to touch and play with it.  Don’t let them.  Teach them to look and not touch so that you can enjoy it for many years to come.  My family LOVES Disney.  We had our first official family vacation in January of this year TO Disney World.  This tree just seemed like such a wonderful gift to give the family to me. It’s special and will only be out at the holidays, so we can enjoy it and see it each year when we decorate the house.  It’s got so very many of our beloved Disney friends on the tree, topped by Santa Mickey flying his sleigh with Rudolph Pluto flying high.

disney-through-years-tree-personal-creations#PCHoliday

With 4 lively levels of rotating movement on this spectacular tabletop tree, the Disney Express seems to “climb” ever higher, brilliantly lit by 20 LED lights. At the very top, Mickey is at the reins of a Pluto and reindeer drawn sleigh that rotates around Cinderella’s magic castle. A medley of 8 Christmas carols makes the festivities complete. Hand crafted of resin with a handsome mahogany base, this breathtaking tree captures 10 unique holiday scenes, starring over 50 sculpted, hand-painted Disney characters from your favorite movies, including Mickey and Minnie, Donald Duck, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Bambi and more. We artfully engrave the brass plaque with any message on 1 line, up to 22 characters. Measures 16″H. UL listed. Includes standard AC adapter. Uses 3 AA batteries (not included). Item cannot be gift boxed.

disney-through-years-holiday-keepsake-collectible-#PCHoliday

Santa Mickey flies high about Disney Through the Years Tree.  This is my favorite part of the whole tree.

disney-through-years-tree-top-2-layers-#PCHoliday

The train doesn’t move on the top tier of the tree- but as you can see, it surrounds Cinderella’s Castle and welcomes so many of the original Disney friends.

The princesses are dancing with their princes around Cinderella’s coach…

disney-through-years-#PCHoliday

Daisy and Donald are greeting guests happily

disney-through-years-tree-personal-creations-#PCHoliday-train

Dumbo and Bambi are hanging out while the Disney Express train goes round and round the bottom layers of the tree. It’s Disney magic in your living room!

personal-creations-personalized-keepsake-disney-through-years-tree-#PCHoliday

And the last piece that makes this so wonderful is the brass name plate with our name on it.

How do you and your family go about personalizing holiday memories?  Who would you give this Disney Through the Years Tree to?

This is one of the only Disney and/or Pixar movies I’ve EVER seen that didn’t make me cry- I’m sappy, of course, but Monsters University just had TOO much funny to get me crying!

We can’t get enough of Mike and Sully and chances are, you’ll feel the same way once you see the new movie.  Plus, the holidays are coming fast and furious!!  Disney Infinity is a gift the whole family can enjoy :)

Under the Sea Parfait Recipe (The Little Mermaid Inspired)

One of my all time favorite Disney movies is The Little Mermaid. My littlest one had a playdate with one of her little besties and since both of them adore Ariel, we decided we would make our playdate extra fun by making up an Little Mermaid inspired Under the Sea Parfait Recipe in honor of the release of the film from the Disney vault.

Max Steel brings us Superhero 2.0

I participated in this sponsored campaign viewing party and toy review of Max Steel for One2One Network. All opinions stated are my own.

 maxsteel-logo

The idea of superheroes has long fascinated so many of us- in print, television, the big screen- everyday life- the superhero represents the ultimate Good vs. Evil battles we’d all love to win- the hero triumphs over the villains, and the world stays safe from evil again.  We watch the movies, read the comic books, the books, the magazines, we buy the shirts, the shoes, the sweatshirts, hats…and the toys.  I can remember going to see the original Superman movie – it was my first movie theater experience- and I was simply in awe at the big screen, and of course, of Superman himself.  Fast forward about 30 years later…and though he’s never lost his fan base, Superman’s been reincarnated once again, inspiring a whole new generation of kids to want to be just like him.  But it’s not just Superman, it’s all superheroes.  Given all that’s happening in the world around us, you can’t blame a kid for wanting superheroes to be real, to save the world, to protect us from evil plots hatched by sinister villains.

Of course, today’s kids have technology along with the love of Superheroes, so it’s only natural that we’d have some heroes coming along with extra technology.  One of Mattel’s “old school” heroes, MAX STEEL, has come back with a new series airing on Disney XD, a live-action film due out in 2014, and a whole line of fun, cool interactive action figures and toys released in September, 2013.

Max Steel is the newest and coolest superhero from Mattel. He’s Maxwell McGrath, a 16 year old kid with a superpower he hasn’t always known about, with a 21st century sidekick, Steel.  Steel isn’t your typical sidekick- Steel is an alien warrior who’s the equivalent of 16 human years- and when he’s not playing practical jokes, he’s paired up with Maxwell McGrath to form the ultimate superhero MAX STEEL (or as I think of him, modern day superhero, Superhero 2.0).  Most of the action figures light up and they have all got a “thing” they do- which is great for kids.

Our favorites? The Max Steel Rip Launch Toxzon Action Figure (there’s a rip cord, and the discs fly through the air.  Also amusing with kittens).  Our other fave? The Max Steel Blade Attack Dredd Action Figure – because his hand spins and spins and it’s fun to do. It’s almost like a helicopter blade- just cool and fun!

max-steel-figures

Kids can bring their favorite Max Steel adventures to life with the brand new Turbo Sword (MSRP $29.99) for action-packed play. With built-in motion sensors, the sword makes battle sounds, lights up and repeats key phrases from the hit animated series with a few simple moves.  You can find it on Amazon, Target, Walmart and ToysRUs.com
The Turbo sword is full of sounds and lights- 19 sounds in all when Steel is attached.  Lots of fun for kids, but I prefer this one goes outside for play (and stored indoors) because the volume is a bit high for my liking (I will fully admit I’m hypersensitive to toy sounds so it may not be so loud to you!)

The Max Steel toy line also includes action figures (MSRP $5.99) and a Max Steel costume (MSRP $21.99-27.00), perfect for boys this Halloween.  It’s VERY refreshing to find action figures priced at this point.  My son is at the age where action figures and imaginative play take up most of his free time (besides building blocks) and he’s usually found in one costume or another, saving the world and “getting” the bad guys by whatever means necessary.  He loves to get together with his buddies and run around inside, outside, up and downstairs, getting totally engrossed in their play and losing track of time and really BEING in the moment.  They love superheroes.  I can’t blame them- who doesn’t want to save the world?

Teamwork: Max is like any other high school student. But when he teams up with Steel, their combined forces unlock superhero powers that help them conquer their world.  It’s nice to see team work encouraged and NEEDED modeled for kids!

Humor: Just like every bond between best buds, quick-witted Max and trusty sidekick Steel’s banter back and forth is just plain funny.  Steel’s even funnier to us because he’s an alien, and that brings a new level of humor!

Friendship: The bond forged between Max and sidekick Steel is undeniably unbreakable. Together they operate as one inseparable duo showing that the power of two is better than one.  It goes back to teamwork too, but it’s also really a great example of the power of friendship.

We will be having a little viewing party once everyone in my house is healthy and my son’s friends are as well- we’ve had to change the date a few times because of back to school sickies!!

Watch MAX STEEL on Saturday mornings at 8:30/7:30c on Disney XD!

Delivery Man starring Vince Vaughn (Trailer inside!)

I got to catch a sneak peek at Delivery Man, coming in theaters on November 22.  I can’t wait to see it- the more I see of Vince Vaughn, the more I love him, and this movie is promising more of the hilarity and fun that he always comes through with.  This time around he plays an  underachiever looking for his purpose in life, when he finds out he’s fathered 533 children through anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years ago. Now he must decide whether or not to come forward when 142 of them want to meet their biological father…and now YOU can see the same sneak peek I did, right here!

delivery man november 22

While the concept of the film is amusing, it’s also a really heartwarming look at what it means to be a family — no matter how unconventional. The definition of family has evolved and, as seen in the film, can come in all shapes and sizes.

My family comes in all shapes and sizes. I’m the youngest of 8 kids- I have one brother who has the same mother AND father as I do.  I have 2 more brothers with the same father, different mothers, although their mother is quite a lovely woman and I adore her.  I also have a brother and three sisters from my dad, and while their mom was alive, she was very much a part of my family.  It’s crazy and weird and I wouldn’t have it any other way- it’s made me who I am, quirks and all.  I think that’s why this film drew me in so much- my own family history is so off that I wanted to know more!

Check out the trailer being released RIGHT NOW and only seen on my site here- oh…well, and 532 other blogs.  Only on ours.  We’re like a trailer family, of sorts…sharing this.

Disney*Pixar’s MONSTERS UNIVERSITY June 21st

Last night we were guests at a special premiere showing of Disney*Pixar’s MONSTERS UNIVERSITY.  My husband, 8 year old and I all were so excited to see the movie and it did not disappoint.  The main characters, Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are back and full of all their usual fun.  MONSTERS UNIVERSITY is the prequel to Monsters Inc. and tells the story of how Mike and Sully met while studying “scaring” at MU.  They were not best friends from the start but the films follows them all the way through to their partnership at Monsters Inc. Disney Pixar's Monster University

Monsters University Review

MONSTERS UNIVERSITY focuses on Mike Wazowski, who has dreamed of being the best “scarer” since he took at a field trip as a child to Monsters Inc.   The problem is that Mike (voice of Billy Crystal) is not very scary.  He studies hard and knows all the scaring tricks but he can’t scare anyone.  Sulley, voice of John Goodman, is a natural born scarer but does not think he needs to study.  MONSTERS UNIVERSITY follows their trials, tribulation and antics.  The movie will keep child and adults entertained for the entire 103 minutes (which includes the Pixar short BLUE UMBRELLA).  BLUE UMBRELLA is a great short and made me want to watch it again.

Screaming with laughter and fun, “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”) and produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”). The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2013, and will be shown in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.  We got to see it in 3D and it was really cool.  This is a movie we will add to our DVD collection when it comes out.  Go on out and see Monsters University,  come back here and let us know what you think.
Who is your favorite Monsters Inc., Monsters University character?
