2 weeks from today, in all likelihood, the kids will be beyond worn out, the presents will be opened, and while probably not cleaned up, dinner will be over. What stays behind is what I like to call THE AFTERMATH. If you are lucky, dinner guests have helped to clean up the kitchen, perhaps loading your dishwasher, storing leftovers in the fridge, running those holiday table linens through the washing machine and dryer. If you are REALLY lucky (read: not me!) you have a double oven range and didn’t make an enormous mess inside of your oven trying to wedge too many dishes in at once, because dinner is at one time and there is just never, ever enough room for all of those sides with the main dish.
If you are not quite so lucky, chances are, 2 weeks from right now, you’ll be breaking down recyclable boxes, wadding up that wrapping paper (it IS recyclable, don’t throw it out!!) and then getting down to the task at hand- cleaning up THE AFTERMATH. I can tell you that with my tiny little kitchen, things get- and stay- messy quite fast. LG has many appliances that can help make your- and my- holiday dinners far easier, simpler, and less stressful (less MESSY!) overall…hence the Come Dine with Me campaign.
Having a three-door French-door refrigerator with lots and lots of capacity (say around 31 cubic feet?) like would really help me – not just in clean up, but in keeping foods at the proper (and safe) temperature, and with LG’s Smart Cooling Plus system, when the kids forget to close the door all the way, or the house gets really hot with all of the extra bodies in there…I can rest assured that the fridge will self-regulate itself! When Uncle Don’s fruitcake just won’t fit AND let the door close, but he decides to shove it in and the door stays slightly ajar, I wouldn’t have to stress that any foods spoiled. With the 3-Tier Organization Freezer system below, when it was time for dessert, I could grab that well-hidden Jubilee Roll (family tradition) that the kids never saw because it was on the bottom level of the 3-Tier Organization™ Freezer system ) and surprise the whole family. With french doors, getting in and out of the fridge is a breeze- I’ve coveted one of these since my mom got one about 5.5 years ago. I think I literally drooled when I saw that beautiful piece of art (I mean appliance!)
Cooking? Not a problem with the double-oven ranges from LG. This is something I dream of having…maybe someday. I have spent many hours daydreaming of a double-oven range, since I knew they existed (guess what else my mom had!!)- having that extra space, cooking side dishes or desserts that need a different temperature than the main dish or others would just be all.kinds.of.awesome. Plus, if you are just, say, warming up some leftovers, or only need to heat a small dish, you don’t need to use the power or gas to heat the entire oven- only the oven you are using at the time. Sure seems to make a lot more sense than what I have. I have this idea in my head that with an LG Double-Oven Range, I could, indeed, be the next Martha Stewart. That may not happen, but I don’t know anyone who HAS a double oven range that wishes they didn’t. I don’t think it’s something you can “go back” from – once you go double, you never go back!
Uncle Don’s fruitcake that is (inevitably) left on the plates and cakes won’t stand up to the low-energy consumption dishwashers from LG. With the built-in food disposer and self-cleaning filter, Uncle Don may never know that none of you actually did eat that fruitcake (Please note, this is a fictitious Uncle Don, and no fruitcakes were wasted nor feelings hurt from said fictitious fruitcakes being wasted)! All kidding aside, how DID people survive holiday meals without a dishwasher? I can’t imagine, but I can promise you, it makes me very, very appreciative of my dishwasher, even if it is on its last legs (maybe I can check a LG dishwasher out soon here at the Bargains house?!). My mom used to host holiday meals for at least 30 people EVERY SINGLE HOLIDAY. Doing the math in my head to figure out how many dishes that meant makes my head spin- let alone how much time and effort it would take to clean all of those dishes!!
The fourteen bowls of chex mix and peanuts that were dumped in many places of your living room rug will clean up easily with a good vaccuum- I think you may remember the LG Kompressor Pet Care Vaccuum I checked out a few months ago- I can tell you that would make very short work of cleaning up crumbs and dry spills on your carpets, rugs and floors.
As you can see- LG appliances sure would make MY holiday meals easier- in prep and in cleanup. Have YOU tried LG appliances? What do you have?
