I’m so happy to be typing these 8 words: The kids go back to school next week. I love them, and I love being home with them, but ohmygoodness I’m ready for school to start. We’re almost ready- the backpacks are out, supplies are purchased, extra supplies are purchased to be donated on Sunday, new clothes are purchased and shoes are being broken in…last minute summer fun is being squeezed in…we meet the teachers and see the classrooms this Friday, and then….school! Oh wait….one more thing to do. Haircuts. Three kids needing haircuts at once.
Do I let them choose their styles (yes, yes I do). Do I try to bring all three at the same time and pray that they can hold it together for the duration of three haircuts?
Well, friends, I’m not sure I’m *that* brave. There could be major meltdowns by the end of a third hair appointment, especially if involves any washing of the hair that belongs to my son. I’m thinking I’ll bring each alone and we can have a mommy date.
But then I’m taking three separate trips and that’s extra gas money. Sigh.
What’s a mom to do? The cutting of the hairs is important, and necessary, but adds up fast. I can’t just buzz my son anymore, he has declared he likes it as is and won’t hear of cutting it shorter. He likes when it flips out and I won’t lie….I love it like this. The concept of a trim is lost on him and we’ve had many tears already- and remember, we haven’t GONE to get his hair cut yet. We’re just discussing. Hairs still need trims, though, and it has to happen. (Would YOU cut those locks? Not me- especially not with his recent Alopecia Areata
