The awesome folks at Seasons UV Solutions (we consumers know them as SunSmarty) sent my kids some awesome swimwear a few weeks back. Trust me when I tell you, that you won’t be able to stand the cuteness in this post (and if you can, well, just pretend you can’t.) SunSmarty has offered ME and Mr. Bargains peace of mind that our kids are safe in the sun- and the kids LOVE wearing this stuff, because it looks and feels great.
Cuteness Exhibit A:
The Supergirl suit that Baby B is sporting. She kept tearing off the cape, so there aren’t pictures of it. Its full of cute, pink, cape-y goodness, though, I promise.
The suit is one piece- and its so easy to get on, even with a wiggling octopus like Baby B is. The zipper up the back goes down pretty far and it makes for easy entry/exit. For the baby sizes, there’s a zipper for easy diaper changes (thank goodness *knocking on wood* we haven’t needed to test that feature, yet). Plus, as you can see, the sleeves and shorts of this go down pretty far- lots and lots of coverage. There is a flap of fabric that covers the top of the zipper, too- no little red marks of irritation.
Rule #1, says Baby Bargains- UV rays are bad. Not only is she cute, she’s smart. I remember the day I saw that Busy B had a tan line from her diapers- she’d never been outside without clothes on. We’d always been diligent about sunscreen but only around her clothes and not under. Ever since that day we have done sunscreen everywhere – before getting dressed!
Most children rack up between 50% and 80% of their lifetime sun exposure before age 18, so it’s important that parents teach their children how to enjoy fun in the sun safely…
A cotton T-Shirt has only about 5 UPF (that is like a 5SPF sunscreen)….SunSmarty Apparel has 50++UPF.
A bad sun burn before the age of 10 can give you up to a 50% chance of getting skin cancer as an adult.
This brings us to Cutness Exhibits B & C
My little Buddy. It was absolute love at first sight when he saw this outfit. I “fwy” mama!! “I fwy!!” This may just be the cutest boy bathing suit I’ve ever encountered, hands down. Look at my little superman. Just look at how much sun protection he has, and can still move comfortably, and stay cool (this fabric dries super fast). He is actually about to start flying in this shot. Below, you can see the full cape effect. In the water when he’s swimming, the cape floats behind him like he’s really flying. It is just too much!!
Superheroes, by the way, are excellent dirt diggers and dumptruck loaders.
We all need some sun exposure; it’s our primary source of vitamin D, which helps us absorb calcium for stronger, healthier bones. But it doesn’t take much time in the sun for most people to get the vitamin D they need, and unprotected exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays can cause skin damage, eye damage, immune system suppression, and even cancer. Even people in their 20s can develop skin cancer.
Final Exhibits of Cuteness: D & E
Here’s my Busy B doing what she does best- being busy. See her cute little outfit? A little miniskort (yay, modesty!!) and the long sleeved top in the Graffiti Love design. You can see below there’s a zippered pouch on the back. Maybe some would think its storage for the shirt, but Busy thinks its for secrets and that its really cool.
She has a coordinating hat, too (you know me, if there’s something I love as much as a bargain its matchy things…).
All the safety benefits packaged so adorably- how can you resist? They also sent us a ton of sunscreen samples which are SO perfect to keep in the diaper bag, and the beach bag, and the car- for sharing, for us- I left some at Busy’s summer camp just in case someone forgot theirs!! There’s an entire page on the SunSmarty site devoted to sun safety. You should take a few minutes and check it out although I did share above the key things that hit home to *me* — click here.
