Lalaloopsy™ Silly Hair Jewel Sparkles™ Doll (Giveaway)

Lalaloopsy™ Silly Hair Jewel Sparkles™ Doll is adorable. I don’t know what else to tell you. I mean, they are cute and fun to play with, but the whole entire Lalaloopsy line and concept to me are just adorable!! I love them!! Last year we got a Peanut Big Top Lalaloopsy doll, and this year we got to check out the new Silly Hair line. So much fun.   Jewel Sparkles is secretly my favorite in the line anyway because she’s pretty much head to toe in pink, which is my favorite color.

Oh wait. I do know what else to tell you. The Silly Hair line from Lalaloopsy is the same line of characters (with the same catchy jingle), just with a twist- a silly twist.  You can style their hair now!! This is something my kids love to do- styling hair is fun for all ages, and colorful hair just makes it more exciting.  [click to continue…]

Mattel’s Disney Princess Water Toys (Giveaway)

Pool or tub, water toys are a blast for little ones (and their adults, often times.  Mattel sent us  Disney Princess Swimming Ariel – Water play is a splash away with the Disney Princess Swimming ArielTurn the seashell at Ariel’s waist and then place her into the water to see her really swim.  Watch as her tail moves up and down to swim through the water just like in The Little Mermaid.

I LOVE this little Ariel.  Of course, she’s kind of my favorite princess and so that probably helps but I just love that she really does swim.  The kids get a kick out of watching her swim- although they decided from day one that Ariel needs to live in the bathtub and not go in the pool so that’s where she lives.  The shell at her waist is pretty easy to maneuver and turn to get her wound up to swim and she does move through the water by moving her tail up and down-  which honestly delights my kids every time.  We love new tub toys and are glad to add another Ariel to our lineup (we have one that her tail lights up with fish and stuff, but she doesn’t swim, so this new doll is getting far more bubble time!!) American Girl introduces Cecile & Marie-Grace Historical Characters

American Girl has introduced two different historical characters– Cecile Rey, an African American, and Marie-Grace Gardner a Caucasian, who “reach across the boundaries of race and calss to help their beloved city of New Orleans in 1853.”

I think its really cool that they are introducing two characters at once- and in such a great way.  I know my introduction to American Girl came long after I was done with dolls- when my niece Samantha got her Samantha historical doll for Christmas- and I’ve (im)patiently waited to have daughters to enjoy the brand with ever since (more on that in the next few weeks).  I am unsure if the timing of the new dolls is intentionally coinciding with The Help movie coming out but I think its pretty cool they are happening at the same time!

Despite different backgrounds and life stories, Cécile (a bold, confident girl from a well-to-do African American family), and shy, caring Marie-Grace (who has just moved back to New Orleans with her father), form a unique bond through their shared love of music. Later, their growing friendship deepens as they work together to help their community during the yellow fever epidemic that sweeps through New Orleans in 1853. Each character is brought to life through a beautifully designed 18-inch doll, plus an array of historically accurate and culturally authentic clothes and accessories that reflect the girls’ heritage and time period. Caillou plush doll and toy train (Review)

If you have ever watched PBS Kids or Sprout with your own or other people’s little kids, chances are you are familiar with a little bald 4 year old boy named Caillou who has his very own animated show- and what may possibly the catchiest theme song ever.  (I can hear the notes now just typing this).   Kids love him, and they love the show.  My kids are no exception.  We’ve had a LOT of sick days in my family this winter which has made for a lot of extra television viewing time- including Caillou.  My 3 year old likes to snuggle on my bed with me after big sister gets on the bus for school and little sister goes for her nap- he likes to watch Caillou with me and then we turn off the TV and read some books together before nap.  Its one of the few things that are “ours” together, just him and me, and I love those times.
