HOODWINKED TOO! HOOD VS. EVIL in 3D April 29th & Giveaway (Hoodwinked DVD & $150 Crate & Barrel GC)

The Weinstein Company is bringing us Hoodwinked Too! Hood VS. Evil in theaters on April 29th, and in celebration of this, one of my awesome readers is going to win a fun Hoodwinked prize package!  This is not your Grandma’s fairytale collection.  I can’t wait to see this!! I’m also jealous of the winner of this prize package!!

The good… the bad… the Twitchy.
The sequel finds our heroine, Red (Hayden Panettiere), training with a mysterious covert group called the Sisters of the Hood. But Red is forced to cut her training short when she gets an urgent call from Nicky Flippers (David Ogden Stiers), who returns as head of the super-secret Happily Ever After Agency, aka the HEA. A wicked witch (Joan Cusack) has abducted two innocent children, Hansel (Bill Hader) and Gretel (Amy Poehler), and Nicky needs Red for the search-and-rescue mission. Of course, what is a sequel without guest stars from the original? Thankfully, Granny (Glenn Close) and the rest of the HOODWINKED gang—including the ever-clueless Wolf (Patrick Warburton) and his over-caffeinated little partner, Twitchy (Cory Edwards), join Red to solve the forest’s latest caper. Fracturing fairy tales and pop culture with good-natured glee, HOODWINKED TOO! HOOD vs. EVIL in 3D takes viewers on a rollicking rollercoaster ride combining edge-of-the-seat adventure with classic, zany cartoon antics.

Frugal Meals

This is a meal that my mother-in-law makes. I think it is a frugal dish because I always (okay, almost always) have these ingredients on hand.
The Farm Fresh 03/16 weekly ad has Perdue Boneless Skinless Chicken breasts on sale for $1.99lb. I typically purchase the bone-in, skin-on thighs because it is significantly cheaper and it only takes a few minutes to remove the skin. There is something to be said for convenience though!
Diana’s Chicken Thighs with Honey & Soy Sauce
Serve with rice and carrots
Price for chicken $3.16
*Assuming all other ingredients on hand
Richfood Instant Rice $1.79
Baby Carrots $0.99
Total cost: $5.94
*When I made this, I served with free rice and $0.33 corn = $3.52
4-6 Chicken thighs
1/4 Cup honey
2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
2 Tbsp Lemon juice
2 Tbsp Melted butter or margarine
1 Egg Yolk
1. Preheat over to 400°F and grease or spray baking dish
2. Mix all ingredients in bowl
3. Roll chicken in mixture and place in prepared dish. Pour remaining mixture over chicken
4. Bone-in: Bake 30-35 min, flip and bake another 30-35 min. or until done
Boneless: Bake 20 min, flip and bake another 20 min. or until done

Douglas Cuddle Toys (Giveaway)

I’m not normally ‘big’ into stuffed animals.  There isn’t a specific reason, I just don’t often purchase them.  Once in a while, I find one that I can’t resist- like Greta the White Flower Horse from Douglas Cuddle Toys.  SO snuggly soft, and so well made.  I love the different textures and the vibrant colors- it takes a well made stuffed friend and kicks it up a notch. The feet and  forehead  have a satiny fabric, and the same satiny fabric is inside of Greta’s ears and mane, and twisted with the fabric of the tail.  The plush itself is really soft and doesn’t pull apart and move around.  Her legs are easy to move and floppy which makes for fun tossing games.  I really like the beans inside of the ‘hooves’ for a surprise texture for little ones to discover and explore!  Even the tag is a generous size- lots of great sensory and tactile components going on in such a cute little package!

I’ve said before and I’ll say again- my kids PLAY with toys.  We’re not gentle nor delicate around here.  I’m not saying we just throw things in the air and against the walls, but in my house, if you don’t want to be played with, climb way up high on a shelf.

Shabby Apple Giveaway

I can FEEL spring in the air!! I even have windows open today!!  Hooray, spring!  In honor of spring being upon us, I’m hosting a giveaway for a dress (of winner’s choice) from Shabby Apple Women’s Dresses.  Shabby Apple offers dresses the way they were meant to be- a simple one piece dress, without a ton of pieces- in styles both classic and modern and in between, in sizes for women, maternity and girls.  They do offer some jewelry and other accessories, but the main focus appears to me to be beautiful dresses.

I haven’t yet enjoyed a dress from this site- that will come to me in a few months.  But I’ve honestly spent far too much time browsing on the site and drooling over some of the gorgeous dresses they have.  One thing that I really like is that you can shop by browsing randomly or you can shop by figure style…which I need help with!  Especially since I’ve got my weight loss journey underway, I have no idea what I should wear or what will look good.  At least with features like this one, it helps take a bit of the guesswork away.   This dress on the right, this is Mariposa Grove.  This is the dress I’ll be reviewing in a few months.

Shabby Apple has offered to send one of my readers a dress of their choice (from a specific range of dresses).
