DIY Apple Butter

When I was a little girl growing up my mother loved apple butter and well … just like a typical child I had to have what she was having of course. My first bite of that creamy, spicy treat on toast led to a lifelong love affair. While it is delicious all year long apple butter just screams fall to me, and fall is my favorite season of all- the flavors, the scents, the crisp air! Besides being a delicious addition to toast it tastes wonderful over ice cream, oatmeal, pancakes, or french toast. If you get a great deal on apples be sure and stock up, this recipe can also be frozen and makes a wonderful hostess gift for the fall or Christmas season.

  • I don't use cloves , never cared for it. Maybe use very little. Most the time I just don't use it. Also can be made in heavy pan in oven over night. You don't have to peel, just slice andcore in morning peels will be off. Let cool and remove them.
