Pretty Little Liars…fashion fabulosity

The fashion sense from the girls of Pretty Little Liars never fails to impress. Whether it’s during a fashion show, Masquerade Ball or for Halloween the girls are always dressed to impress. I live my fashion live vicariously through the girls.  Or what I suppose would be my fashion sense, if I was  a teenager with a lot of money to spend on my wardrobe!! I love how the ensembles are always so well put together, and ALWAYS fashionable.  I don’t know that any girls from Rosewood ever wear yoga pants and t shirts….

It isn’t even the individual outfits or style that make the fashion so fun on PLL.  To me, its more how the character’s personality and personal quirks/preferences are reflected and magnified by the fashion- maybe that outfit is off the rack…but paired with those boots, that bracelet…that’s what makes it work and so fabulous.  I won’t lie, I’d probably have a bit more length to my dresses…but these ladies look put together ALL of the time and never look less than fabulous, even when being terrorized by the A team….

speaking of the A team….who do you think is part of that?

So what is next on Pretty Little Liars since we know who A is?

pretty little liars season 2, find the pretty little liarI have to admit to you that I kind of cheated a bit to find out who A was- before the season 2 finale of Pretty Little Liars.  I knew there were books and I poked around until  I found the answer.  Now that I know, I want to go back through and re-watch both Season One and Season Two and see what little hints and suggestions I missed out on!  Knowing that just like the books, A is really Mona…that’s not surprising.  But the folks who write this show aren’t going to give us all of the answers, and we should all expect a whole lot of twists, turns, and (un)pleasant surprises for Season Three.  Perhaps the show will be more pretty and handsome little liars?  So what’s next for the girls?

Oh wait.  A isn’t REALLY Mona.  She can’t be.  She’s the messenger.  Part of the team.  My bad.  And here some of you were thinking I was giving spoilers (can they be spoilers after the episode airs?  I think Mona’s doing the “social media” taunting and bullying FOR A….or rather, the A-Team.  She’s not working alone.

I cannot say who I thought really was A before I did my research- I’m probably the worlds worst “detective” and miss things all the time.  Just ask my husband (haha).

While you’re waiting for your Pretty Little Liars: The Complete Second Season on DVD to arrive, don’t forget to enter the Pretty Little Lies contest!! I want one of you to win a fun new bag!!  The promotion ends TONIGHT: June 12!!

Blood Work, U.S Marshals, A Perfect World, Lethal Weapon Collection: Father’s Day Blu-Ray Prize Pack Giveaway #WBDadsDay

clint east wood, us marshals, a perfect world, blurayFather’s Day is just over a week away, and movies are almost always a hit for gifts! The WB is having a Father’s Day Promo. Blood Work, U.S Marshals, A Perfect World, and the Lethal Weapon Collection are available on Blu-Ray June 5th for purchase.  Why not grab some of his favorite “guy” movies for a gift?  You could even put together a date-night-in basket and do some movies, his favorite movie candies, some popcorn, a few of his favorite beverages, and perhaps even a gift card for some take out so he can have Father’s Day “off”!!

Blood Work:
FBI profiler Terry McCaleb almost always gets to the heart of a case. This time, that heart beats inside him. He’s a cardiac patient who received a murder victim’s heart. And the donor’s sister asks him to make good on his second chance by finding the killer. That’s just the first of many twists in a smart, gritty suspense thriller that’s “vintage Eastwood: swift, surprising and very, very exciting” (Jim Svejda, KNX/CBS Radio). Clint Eastwood produces, directs and stars in this edgy, acclaimed mystery based on Michael Connelly’s novel and scripted by Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential). With a superb cast brought to a hard boil playing characters to quicken your pulse and hold you spellbound, Blood Work works exceptionally well.

U.S. Marshals:
Ladies and gentlemen, be alert. We are going to initiate a hard-target search for a fugitive in an ever-widening perimeter. We will wade through swamps, prowl Manhattan streets, search every house and doghouse. We’ll eat on the run, sleep tomorrow, watch our backs. And since Marshal Sam Gerard leads the hunt, we will experience suspense, action and daring twists every breathless step of the way. Returning to his Oscar-winning role from The Fugitive, Tommy Lee Jones is Gerard, joining an A-team including Wesley Snipes, Robert Downey Jr. and director Stuart Baird. (Executive Decision) to deliver adrenaline-rush excitement. The suspect: armed, extremely dangerous, perhaps linked to a spy ring. The chase: highlighted by an out-of-control 727, a death match in a ship’s cargo hold, a 12-story plunge onto a moving train and more heart-pounding sequences. The movie: U.S. Marshals.

A Perfect World:
Academy Award winners* Kevin Costner and Clint Eastwood confront each other from opposite sides of the law in A Perfect World, an acclaimed, multilayered manhunt saga (directed by Eastwood) that rumbles down Texas backroads toward a harrowing collision with fate. Costner plays Butch Haynes, a hardened prison escapee on the lam with a young hostage (T.J. Lowther in a remarkable film debut) who sees in Butch the father figure he never had. Eastwood is wily Texas Ranger Red Garnett, leading deputies and a criminologist (Laura Dern) on a statewide pursuit. Red knows every road and pothole in the Panhandle. What’s more, he knows the elusive Haynes – because their paths have crossed before.

Lethal Weapon Collection Synopsis:
Lethal Weapon (1987) With over seven minutes of previously unavailable scenes, the director’s cut of Lethal Weapon is a long-overdue present for fans. Riggs’s solitary homelife and the tragic loss spurring him in a reckless disregard for his own safety now come into greater focus. We see that recklessness is new scenes underlining the differences between the two cops. Murtaugh, just 50, needs reassurance about his skills at a firing range. Riggs, not caring if he sees another birthday, coolly walks into a schoolyard sniper’s field of fire. All the humor and adrenaline that made this original an entertainment milestone are here, too. No scenes have been removed. But new action and new insight are now included. Include yourself in the excitement. Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) Riggs wows the pretties of a hotel spa before getting to Getz. Murtaugh receives bad bodywork news from an auto repairman after his beleaguered station wagon sees some Riggs-piloted street action. Plus, feisty Leo shares a newly included scene in which he recalls a suspect’s address by complex spins of numbers that, well, no one can tell it like Leo. And no one would follow his lead but Riggs and Murtaugh. It’s police procedure, Lethal style. And it’s yours to enjoy as the duo draws a bead on criminals hiding behind diplomatic immunity. Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) Riggs and Murtaugh are back again. This time, they must stop a former cop who has become an arms dealer to L.A. street gangs. Lethal Weapon 4 (1998) Mel Gibson and Danny Glover return as buddy cops Riggs and Murtaugh, with Joe Pesci riding comedy shotgun as chatterbox Leo. Murtaugh is still the family man. Riggs is still the gonzo loose cannon and – what’s this? – family man. His will-he/won’t he marriage to Cole (Rene Russo) is one of the new wrinkles in this powerhouse crowd-pleaser that also stars comedy favorite Chris Rock and international action star Jet Li. This sequel involves an action packed battle with a Chinese ganglord.

One reader will win a prize pack including: One (1) blu-ray copy of each of the following movies: Blood Work, U.S Marshals, A Perfect World, Lethal Weapon Collection

One Tree Hill: The Past Catches Up

One Tree Hill Season 9 DVDThe past finally seems to catch up with the characters of One Tree Hill in Season 9. Clay learns he has a 6 year old son that his memory blocked out after the death of his wife. X is released on parole and Brooke struggles to deal with running into him everywhere. Dan hopes to reconnect to his family and struggles to redeem himself as his past crimes have not been forgotten by his family or the town.

Something not many people know about me is that I have an ex boyfriend who spent time in prison.  Not the best time of my life, although the lessons I learned from that experience have made me far stronger than I’d thought I could be.   It isn’t something I’m proud of and I long ago lost contact with him but  sometimes, the thought of him “finding” me or contacting me gives me pause.  The thought of living near to where he does and having the possibility of running into someone like that while going about day to day living just would make me miserable, and watching Brooke deal with X being released really drove that point home to me.  Thankfully, he’s not aware of where I live and I legally took my stepfather’s last name after we broke up, so I’m not worried.

Do you have mistakes from your past you just really hope do not come back to haunt you?

One Tree Hill Season 9

I have been hired by Warner Bros. WBWord division to promote One Tree Hill Season Nine on DVD.

One Tree Hill had their finale: now what?

One Tree Hill Season 9 DVDThis past week marked the end of the One Tree Hill series.  For dedicated fans, this means saying farewell to “friends” they’ve devoted time to weekly for 9 seasons.  I’m always so sad when a series I enjoy watching ends- although now that so many shows are released on DVD or BluRay, Ultraviolet, etc, you don’t have to miss beloved characters for long.  The extras that companies put along with the episodes from shows are what draws dedicated fans to purchasing the sets, I think. For One Tree Hill devotees, seeing unaired scenes and watching the series “Retrospective” may help them work through missing OTH.

Along with the 13 episodes, The Complete Ninth Season of One Tree Hill, which is available on BluRay/DVD/Ultraviolet 4/10/12, also features 2 hours of fan favorite extra content. Included in the content are 3 all-new featurettes, a full-length commentary, unaired scenes and a hilarious gag reel. In this blog post, please discuss how you think the unaired scenes and the extra content would affect a fan’s enjoyment of the closing of the series. Also, discuss what two bonus features from the DVD that you are looking forward to most and why.

  • Featurettes:
    • An Evening in One Tree Hill
    • The Story of One Tree Hill
    • The Fans of One Tree Hill
    • One Tree Hill Series Retrospective (offered on UltraViolet)

What do YOU think will be the best “extra” on this DVD set?

One Tree Hill Series Finale April 4th (and pre-order Season 9 on DVD!)

One Tree Hill Season 9 DVDOne Tree Hill is a show I didn’t watch for a really long time, although I kept hearing of it- my friend Ashley was the one who had so much enthusiasm about the show that I decided it was time to check it out.  It didn’t take long for me to love it too, and while I’ve missed a lot of episodes through the years, at least I can check them out on DVD and watch at my leisure!

It’s been really interesting to watch the progression of Brooke’s character over the years- she was so self absorbed, shallow, selfish in the early years of the show- and as she’s gotten older she’s matured and learned what so many don’t- that selfish isn’t the way to live life, and there are things more important than yourself.  It’s been a rocky road but I’ve enjoyed watching her character grow and develop.    We’ve all been like Brooke was at some point in our lives- I like that her character didn’t magically transform overnight into a mature adult- I know that I didn’t become a mature adult overnight, and I like when stories aren’t written to make characters have evolutions that simply aren’t true to life.

Preorder the One Tree Hill Season 9 DVD, available 4/10!

Paul the Male Matchmaker

paul the male matchmaker

Have you seen the new Hulu series,  Paul the Male Matchmaker? I recently discovered it and it may very well be a new favorite show!!

When Paul inherits a matchmaking company from his Aunt Cathy, he wonders what his aunt could have possibly been thinking. But he soon realizes it makes perfect sense: by his own estimation, Paul is very attractive, super-likable and a really happy person — and he’s got a fantastic marriage to a very wealthy woman, Teri. Although Paul’s confident that he is the perfect person to help women find love, his approach is going to be a little different from that of his Aunt Cathy. His no-holds-barred philosophy toward dating can be surprising and frustrating to the women he is helping, but no matter how hilarious it may appear, his focus is always on being brutally honest with his clients.

In season 1 Episode 3 Jillian played by Lisa Edelstein seeks out Paul’s advice on how to get back into the dating world after being in a 4 year relationship with her ex boyfriend. In this episode Jillian gets matched up with a ‘dummy’ for a date.

Here’s the part where you guys get to hear about a funny story from MY dating files. [click to continue…]

Shameless (airs Sundays 9PM ET/PT on Showtime)

SHamelessThroughout the 1st Season of Shameless, we see a lot of hardship but it usually ends with a twist of humor and close family ties. At the end of Season 1, we find Steve trying to convince Fiona, the oldest daughter, to skip town with him to the warm and beautiful/care-free Costa Rica. This kind of lifestyle would surely be a great change for Fiona, but after initially deciding to go with Steve, she changes her mind and stays with the hard yet humorous, family-oriented life.

If you were in her situation, what would you do? Would you leave your ‘no collar’ Shameless life but abandon your family to start anew? Or would you let your love and a chance at renewal slip away?

If I was Fiona, I’d probably get so far as leaving en route to Costa Rica before being pulled back to my family.  That’s the thing with Fiona- no matter how hard things get, or how bad things seem, the family ties are the ones that bind her.  She loves her family, for good and for bad, and I think she’s ultimately the “glue’ of the family.

Of course if I was Fiona, I’d have to go back, or never leave at all, or else this comedy would probably fall apart!!   [click to continue…]
